New for 2016 we have added a day trip to Millstone Creek Orchards in Ramseur, Thursday October 6th. Bus fair is sponsored by the Bessemer City Chapter 1286, and tickets are covered in your registration fee. Don’t forget to bring YOUR secret award winning dessert for our Home Cookin’ Cook Off. The winner will receive a prize from WoodmenLife. Bring your silent auction items, as we will be holding a benefit for the camp. Also we will participate in another food drive for our National Community Focus, FIGHT HUNGER! Items will be donated to a local shelter. Things you will need to bring: Bedding items: sheets and blankets. Personal hygiene items: soap, shampoo, bug spray and sun block are recommended. *This class is for ALL students age 4-6 in both Preschool and Kindergarten. Kindergarteners have an opportunity to further develop their drawing skills before entering our hour-long KidzArt IMAGINE! class. Instruction is modified for each childs abilities. Limited to 8 students.* Learning about art and how to draw is like learning a new language with KidzArt DISCOVER! The ‘language of art begins with the recognition of lines and shapes. We show students how these lines and shapes can fit together to create a complete whole. Then we introduce them to the tools to do it for themselves. Much of DISCOVER! centers around teaching our young students to slow down, to focus, and to see how the world around them is put together. They learn how they can create recognizable forms from the ‘language of art they are learning. DISCOVER! offers our students praise, support and direction, while we ask for their attention and willingness to perform their personal best. This class focuses on process. Students use markers and drawing quality paper in addition to some basic introduction to media such as chalk and oil pastel. Location: Preschool Cafeteria. Campers will learn about a variety of watercolor painting techniques. Exploring texture, color, and value through realistic and abstract subjects. They will build their skills with small studies, large still-life paintings, and patterned stationery designs. Open to all levels of experience.
