LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Global Premier Soccer Session 2 - North Yarmouth Academy
Global Premier Soccer-Maine and NYA will partner to offer a comprehensive soccer program on NYAs campus for students ages 8-13. Each day will focus on a different aspect of the game including passing and receiving, ball control, attacking/defending principles and shooting. The camp will conclude with a mini World Cup tournament on Friday afternoon which parents will be encouraged to attend. Alongside this, we will be running a Coaches Challenge where the students will compete against their coaches with prizes on the line. Daily activities for children who are in the two-year-old program are based upon projects and units of study. A balanced schedule provides experiences in group and individual settings and includes stories, music, language experiences, natural discovery, and inquisitive discussions. Classrooms are arranged into centers that include age-appropriate educational toys, materials, and games based upon the interests of the children. These include centers for books, blocks, sensory materials, art, puzzles and manipulatives, math, science, and dramatic play. Children have the opportunity to work and play in these centers individually, with a friend, or in small groups. Choosing centers provides practice in making decisions, following directions, working independently, and learning about the care and use of materials. Outside time offers opportunities for gross motor development (including climbing, running, jumping, pedaling, and building), social interactions, as well as a chance to experience weather and seasons. Children can also experiment with sand and water during these outside periods. Daily group lessons include stories, music, gross motor activities, language experiences, and discussions including questioning and research. Camp will include instruction on: •Techniques of Quarterback play •Receiving skills and running of pass patterns •Punting, place kicking drills and blocking techniques •Types for offensive and defensive plays Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt on the last day of camp. Please note: Each camper will need to dress comfortably for an outdoor athletic summer camp. It is suggested that campers wear athletic shorts, an athletic shirt and athletic shoes (football cleats optional.) Please also bring a water bottle to re-hydrate during breaks.
