Pre-teen Improv Summer Camp (Session 2) - Norfolk, VA
This camp is open to children ages 7 to 12. Students will explore the key elements of both long and short form improvisation. The children will play numerous improv games which will serve to develop and enhance their public-speaking, social, and team-building skills. This camp will be conducted in a non-judgmental environment where the students will build confidence, make friends, and most importantly… have fun. Snacks will be provided on a daily basis and there will be a pizza-party for lunch on Friday. The camp concludes on Saturday with all students performing in a graduation show on the stage of the Push Comedy Theater. Each student will receive a Push Comedy Theater T-shirt and be eligible to perform in the 5th Annual Norfolk Comedy Festival in late September 2016. We will have 3 sessions throughout the summer. Session1: July 11th - 15th, 9:30am to noon Session 2: August 1st - 5th, 9:30 to noon Session 3: August 22nd - 26th, 9:30 to noon These are all beginner level sessions, no experience is necessary. Tution is $200 for new students (includes a t-shirt), $190 for returning students.

AM Big, Bad Batik 8/1 (ages 9+) - Ah Haa School for the Arts
Explore the amazing world of batik-style silky painting for making a variety of vibrantly colored projects on fabric. Using resist processes to keep dye from penetrating areas of cloth, youll paint a unique design of your choice – landscapes, animals, flowers... Then watch your images come to life as you apply different colored dyes to your piece. Once the resist material is removed, youll have a finished work of art to take home. After four days of exploration, youll find that resist silk painting offers an endless world of creative possibilities. 970.728.3886

DETAILS StoryStars is designed to help children take an interest in books and literature at an early age. With our enjoyable and fun themes each week, children see how exciting reading can be! Each week will focus on age-appropriate literary skills while incorporating art, science, math and cooperative learning into the lessons. We will add to our Word Wall each week and children can continue to practice these skills at home with the provided materials. Every child can learn to love stories, and our theme, as always, is Having Fun…One Book at a Time! March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 31st 9:30am – 12:00pm Ages: 3-5 March 3rd Frances doesnt like bedtime! We will write some of her excuse words on our word wall and write our own sentences about what an excuse is. Students get to paint a bedtime Frances for their room and make a math graph counting Frances excuses. March 10th Our storytime book helps children to conquer the fear of sleeping over at their grandparents house. Robotics-Maker Station - Amador Elementary School
ROBOTICS Explore and build with Lego WeDo 2.0 robots. Students will build robots using the new Lego WeDo 2.0 system. Students will learn to assemble and program the robots to learn the basic concepts of programming. Once students have shown mastery of the system basics they will be allowed follow their own path as they investigate increasingly complex modules. Modules may include: Sorting to Recycle: Design a device that uses the physical properties of objects, including their shape and size, to sort them. Robust Structures: Investigate the characteristics that make a building earthquake resistant, using an earthquake simulator constructed from LEGO® bricks. MAKER STATION Learn how to build a catapult from common household materials and use the Engineering Design Process to improve your design. Prototype a foam rocket toy and experiment with the design to fly longer and farther. Build balloon powered rocket cars to race against your classmates. Students will be building with common household materials and applying the Engineering Design Process to their work.
