LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Week 8: Day Camp Assistant Training (Leadership Development) - Camp Tanadoona
Day Camp Assistant (DCA) Training is the first step in Tanadoonas leadership development program. DCAs spend the first half of the week engaging in teambuilding workshops and interactive leadership training with lead camp staff. Training includes first aid, behavior management, specialty programming and basic counselor skills. DCAs immediately apply their training when they are partnered with Tanadoona Counselors to assist with Day Camp groups during the second half of the week. Staying overnight on Thursday to help with the Thursday Overnight campers provides additional experiential learning. We recommend a minimum of two years of DCA before progressing to CIT. 612-235-7284

Youth Football Camp - Hixson, TN
The Cobra's youth football camp is a non-contact football camp that cultivates talented young people in an effort to unite a community that has deeply supported athletics and leadership building. Participants of the Cobra's Camp will receive personal coaching from TN Cobra players and other former college players, and trained coaches. All youth (boys & girls) between the ages of 5-13 are encouraged to participate. We only have 100 spots; this event is being held at an indoor athletic facility and will not cancel due to weather. Disneys classic animated tale of kidnapping villains and courageous puppies is adapted in this fur-tastic musical adventure. Pet owners Roger and Anita live happily in London with their Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Everything is quiet until Anitas former classmate the monstrous Cruella De Vil plots to steal the puppies for her new fur coat. Join us as we learn how to create wonderful creatures using a variety of fun art materials. We will work on different surfaces and also with air dry clay in 3-D. Discover how dragons got their fiery reputation, create your own creature puppet, and learn some special art tricks that will help you draw anything you can imagine! This class gives students a real opportunity, as artists to explore the topic of identity and Family. The results have been creative and exciting. Students explore topics like family, friends, personal exploration, ethnic and racial origins and many others. They have the chance to visualize old and new themes that inform the viewer and surprised the artists. This is a very special class that promotes communications about self-realization through the visual arts, in a safe and supportive environment.
