My 5 year old daughter loved Camp Galileo. Since they group children by ages, she got to meet other children with similar interests. She was having so much fun she didn’t realize she was also learning about science and art. My 9 year old son enjoyed the outdoor activities. His favorite game was playing Star Wars tag. Youth Development Summer Camp Car and Truck Show - Concord, NC
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, Youth and Development Division, will be hosting a Car & Truck Show on Saturday, April 16, 2016 with all the proceeds going to benefit the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Youth Development Summer Camp. The Youth Development Summer Camp provides At Risk Youth in Cabarrus County with a week-long camp experience. This year, we will be expanding our summer camp experience to include three, 1 week sessions that will impact over 120 At Risk Youth in Cabarrus County. During a typical week of summer camp, At Risk Youth interact with police officers in a positive learning environment. Some of the camp activities include bowling, fishing, mini golf, swimming, along with trips to the zoo and local movie theaters to name a few. Interlaced within these activities are structured lessons which teach about the dangers of bullying, internet safety, gun safety, peer pressure, and drug abuse. In today’s society, now more than ever, we need positive role models for our youth. The School Resource Officers of the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office are effective, positive, motivational, role models for these At Risk Youth. Calling all kids who love pets! This camp combines many different mediums of art as campers learn canvas painting by completing a portrait of their pet. They also learn the art of mosaics while creating a picture frame for a lovable animal. Campers also earn about pottery painting and glazing techniques as they personalize a bowl for their pet. Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program - University of Texas at Austin
The Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program is designed to provide advanced vocal training for high school juniors & seniors, and college freshmen & sophomore singers. Our goal is to prepare young singers for voice auditions, admission, and successful integration to nationally recognized music programs. This intensive five-week program meets every Monday and Tuesday in June to engage students in a variety of classes, lessons, and performance opportunities. The program culminates with performances. BOCYAP is a one day per week event with the exception of production week. The curriculum will include individual voice instruction and classes related to the art of singing, including diction classes, song and aria interpretation, dance and the science behind vocal production. There will also be courses designed to prepare young singers for the application and audition process of undergraduate music schools and professional young artist programs. These courses range from instruction on how to dress, learning skills that are tested on entrance and diagnostic exams and a mock audition with professional and personal feedback.
