Spend these weeks immersed in the world of China. Campers will practice Mandarin, create art in the traditional Chinese style, and learn about the cultural experience of the Chinese. This camp is perfect for those just beginning their study of Mandarin and for those who studied Mandarin previously and want the opportunity to practice and grow. Artistic work and activities around culture throughout the week will help campers understand the way language, practice, and beauty entwine in the Chinese experience. Sign up for up to four weeks! Race for the Campers 5K, 10K, and Kid's 1 Mile Adventure Runs - Trout
Get a taste of what Camp Jonah has to offer its campers in these 10k, 5k, and kid’s 1 mile adventure runs; with all proceeds going directly to camp scholarships to help get kids to camp! If you like your races with a little more "fun" than "run" Jonah’s 5k obstacle run is the race for you. Test your limits by wading through mud pits, scaling climbing walls, conquering inflatable obstacles, dodging flying water balloons, and battling many more surprises along the way. Win the race to be crowned camp King or Queen. Be sure to bring your messy clothes/shoes, you may get dirty! For the more serious runners we recommend our 10k scenic run exploring the beauty of Trout Lake. With Mount Adams as your backdrop, this is a race is one you won’t want to miss. Our Kids's art camp is back...and during Christmas Break! We provide all the supplies, your child's inspiration and step-by-step instruction of the featured art. At the end of the event, kids will go home with their very own snowman masterpiece. This class woudl make a great kids for any children on your list. Appropriate ages are 6-12. In On Stage: Footlights, everyone shines! Our camp is designed to allow students the opportunity to dive into performance and design/construction aspects of theatre by working on an abridged production. This year, students will perform 2-3 musical numbers from the Broadway hit, Matilda , based on Roald Dahls beloved book. All songs will be performed as a group, and everyone will get a chance to be Matilda! Well start each day with physical, vocal, imagination & focus building warm-ups. Heres what well be doing: * creating & developing characters * learning music/songs * blocking/choreographing musical numbers * playing drama games * getting to know the theatre space and theatre terminology * set design and construction * working with props and costumes Our goal is to have every student on stage, every student engaged in the creative process, every student proud of their work. Fridays camp hours are extended to 3pm because Footlights students will join the Spotlight campers for final rehearsals and performance on Friday, July 15! This camp is designed for setters that have experience and are looking to take their game to a higher level. Campers will work on the specifics of becoming a more advanced and consistent setter and will run drills designed to set them apart from their fellow competitors. Setters will get a lot of reps to help refine their skills they already have, and learn techniques necessary to set at a high level. Setters will work on jump setting, consistency, deceptive setting, attacking the second ball, and advanced transition drills.
