Rustler Ranch Teen Camp - Pierpont, OH
Teen Camp at Rustler Ranch 6th-12th Grade July 13-15 9:30am - 2:00pm $35.00 per teen per day OR $100 for 3 days!! Come out and enjoy the fun at Rustler Ranch! Your teen will learn safety around horses, grooming, daily care of horses, saddling, horse language, how to work with a horse on the ground, riding skills, maneuvering obstacles, and much more. They will then put these skills learned into practice by caring for their assigned horse daily while at camp. Each teen will receive one on one time with their assigned horse and instructor. They will learn through class time and hands on time. Each teen will be evaluated and taught to their current level of riding, beginners to advanced will learn new skills to aid each of them.  We ask that each teen wear long pants and shoes with a heal for riding. We also ask that each teen bring along with them a packed lunch each day; fridge and microwave available. Pottery Camp Morning, Ages 9-12 - The Yard School of Art At Montclair Art Museum
SummerART Camp Pottery Morning Program 9:30am to 1:45pm Pottery Camp Session III: July 25 to August 5 Pottery Camp This camp is for children who are interested specifically in working with clay to create pottery, sculpture, and more. Campers are grouped in age-specific classes (6 to 8, and 9 to 12). Campers will have the opportunity to use the Museums diverse collection of Native American pottery as inspiration. Much of the work created in Pottery Camp will be kiln fired, some will be functional, some will be decorative, and all of it will be treasured for years to come. Much of this artwork will be displayed at the receptions in Leir Hall at the end of each session. If you would like to volunteer at Camp Hope of East TN this summer, please complete this online application. By default, you will be added to the "Waitlist" once your background check has been completed and approved, you will be "Registered" for the session. This system is designed to streamline the volunteer application and screening process. You can apply for as many positions and camp sessions as you like, however, you will be contacted by the camp director, Kraig Otto, upon approval of your background check. You will be able to determine along with Kraig how, where, and when you can serve as a volunteer at Camp Hope. You must be at least 16 years old to use this application system, however, if you are under 18, please contact Krag directly upon completion of the application for further interview. In October we will resume our homeschool series by following the changing seasons and further developing our our naturalist skills. Together well seek to develop an understanding of the unique ecology of this landscape while also deepening our connection to nature, ourselves and each other. This class is held entirely outdoors in wilderness conditions (no bathrooms or permanent structure for shelter) in all but extreme weather conditions. Well stay warm by keeping active, ducking out of the wind, soaking up the sun, and treating ourselves to snacks by occasional small campfires. Proper clothing--especially layers of wool--is essential, as is an adventurous, curious spirit! 978-463-2233

Create both sculptures and functional pieces out of clay, using a variety of techniques and exploring texture and form. The older group will include instruction on the potters wheel. $30 materials fee is due to instructor at first class. Alice is a fun, innovative, and educational software from Carnegie Mellon Institute, designed to expose students to object-oriented programming. Using a gallery of 3D characters and scenery, Alice allows students to learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated stories, movies, simple games, and even virtual pets! In Alice, 3-D objects (e.g., people, animals, and vehicles) populate a virtual world and students animate the objects and program social interactions between characters. In Alices interactive interface, students drag and drop graphic tiles to create a program, where the instructions correspond to standard statements in a production oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, and C#. Alice allows students to immediately see how their animation programs run, enabling them to easily understand the relationship between the programming statements and the behavior of objects in their animation.
