This Boy Scout Ranch Camp was established in 1983. My 14 year old son would not miss signing up for this summer camp. Nestled in over 200 miles of rugged country it is the perfect place to camp and explore nature. Our son liked the diverse topography of the land. The event will be held at Mercy Hospital Conference Center on New Ballas Road. Doors open at 6:00pm, and trivia begins promptly at 7:00pm. Prizes will be awarded to the winning table. There will also be raffles, games and attendance prizes! Cost is $200 for an 8-person table or $25 per person ($30 per person at the door). Beer, soda and water are provided and we encourage you to bring your own food and beverages as well. Who: Youth in the community 3rd grade- 12th grade What: Camp Out for the Orphans in Cambodia Where: Little Valley Legion Pavilion/Field When: Friday, August 14th begins at 6:30 thru Saturday, August 15th 10:30 a.m. How: Pick up a pledge sheet & get family & neighbors to support you for the event. Bring just your sleeping bag or blanket and a willing heart to give up all your comforts of home for one night to help another child. The Cobra's youth football camp is a non-contact football camp that cultivates talented young people in an effort to unite a community that has deeply supported athletics and leadership building. Participants of the Cobra's Camp will receive personal coaching from TN Cobra players and other former college players, and trained coaches. All youth (boys & girls) between the ages of 5-13 are encouraged to participate. We only have 100 spots; this event is being held at an indoor athletic facility and will not cancel due to weather. Growing Scientists: Animal Adventures - CuriOdyssey
Growing Scientists: Animal Adventures Why are some animals furry and others feathered? How does a snail move? What does an owl eat? Have an up close and personal encounter with some of the animals at CuriOdyssey and learn about their amazing adaptations such as how they eat, where they sleep, and where to find them in nature. Go on an adventure to find tiny creatures living around Coyote Point Recreation Area. The world of animals will be revealed in this wild and wooly, slippery and scaly camp! Growing Scientists must be at least 3 years old by June 1, 2016, potty trained and able to use the bathroom independently. MAKER STATION Come build with us this summer! Your child will be working with a variety of materials in a STEAM maker station. Students will create their own science or art projects. They will also deconstruct items and study reverse engineering to examine how things work. Our station includes beginning snap circuits, Brackitz bionic blocks, and an introduction to coding when we build mazes for our very own Bee-Bot robot. As an added bonus in the station, we also have GoldieBlox kits to encourage more girls to get excited about building. The Maker Station encourages creativity, exploration, and innovation. Students choosing the ½ day option will participate in 2 Science Olympiad events, while those choosing the full day option will participate in 4 events. The camp events are the same as those used in the State and National Science Olympiad Competitions. At the end of the 2 week camp, campers will participate in our camp competition which will be modeled after actual Science Olympiad competitions. Instructors are current members of the High School North Science Olympiad Team and former members of the Community Middle School Science Olympiad Team that has won 13 consecutive State Science Olympiad Championships and 2 National Science Olympiad Championships. This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. The fun continues! For interested students with some acting experience. Well explore changing our voices and bodies to represent different characters from favorite and familiar stories like the Harry Potter series, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Secret Garden...perhaps well travel to Narnia. Students will get to stretch their wings a bit each week doing dramatic readings. Well include some fun theatre games and improv activities too! At the final class parents will be invited to a staged presentation. INSTRUCTOR ROBERTA MASTER-CULLEN has been teaching childrens classes and camps at the Little Theatre for seven years. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild specializing in radio and television voiceovers, and has been a television news anchor and reporter.
