The summer will be gone before we know it, but we are still galloping full speed ahead which is why Tomten Farm and Sanctuary will be offering a special mentoring program to animal loving kids ages 11-16. This unique program is designed for kids with the desire to learn more about the day-to-day operations of an animal sanctuary and get hands on experience with our rescues. Taught by our long term volunteer and intern, UNH Equine Science major, Aileen W., it’s sure to be chock of personal attention, education, hard work, and more animals than you can count. Join us at the farm 2-3 weekdays from July 10th to the 31st, 10:30-2:30 and help us go above and beyond to maintain happy, healthy animals 365 days a year. As always, safety comes first so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing (closed toed, hard shoes, bug spray and sunscreen) and bring a signed release, a copy parent/guardian license or federal ID (feel free to black out addresses, birth dates, and SS or S numbers) drinks, lunch, and an appetite to contribute and get involved with one of your favorite rescues! Does your little one have what it takes to be a REAL princess? No, really… Does she have what it takes to be true royalty? Well, she’s about to go through Princess 101! Announcing the first ever Putnam Princess Parties Princess Summer Camp!! July 5-9 we will transform the Bancroft FireHouse in beautiful Putnam County into a Princess Academy where our real life Putnam Princesses will be conducting a camp that will teach little ones exactly what it takes to be royalty- manners, makeup, songs, dances, the works! Each day, 2-3 princesses will teach different “courses” from 5:00-7:00pm. Different princesses will teach different “classes.” For example, Cinderella may be teaching a song while Snow White is teaching a proper curtsy. Each day, your child will learn something new and they will practice for the big recital on Saturday. At the end of the week, the little princesses will perform in a special performance alongside the real life princesses in a grand recital. They will perform the special songs and dances they have studied. And all the characters they have met throughout the week will be in attendance for a grand ball type of ceremony. There will then be a special graduation “with royal honors”...

Fly Fishing - The Evergreen School
Fly fishing is a sport that teaches patience, improves motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for nature. No one can walk away from losing a five minute battle with a stubborn trout without a deep respect for the fish! Students will learn the basics of fly fishing – setting up their rod and reel, knot typing, basic overhead casting, selecting the right fly, etc. Discussion will also include the history of fly fishing, how its different from other kinds of fishing, and entomology. Farm Camp is a Cascade Mountain School day program that introduces younger students to the fun and excitement of learning where our food comes from. Come explore a variety of farm activities in Trout Lake, WA. Play in the gardens. Tour a local organic dairy. Learn about animal care. Feed the chickens and cook a meal with farm fresh eggs. Parents are also welcome to join in on these amazing hands-on activities. Day camps for ages 9-12 will be held Monday through Thursday from 1-4 pm each day.
