3rd Annual Fireworks Fundraiser "Celebrate and Laugh" for Avengers Fre
The Avengers Mentoring Organization (501c3) presents it's 3rd Annual Charity Fireworks Fundraiser for our 5th Annual Summer Camp! Our FREE summer camp serves 300 children ages 6-13 in and around the Metro-Detroit area. This daily camp runs from July 11, 2016-August 19, 2016. Locations are: The Golightly Education Center (5536 St. Antoine) and George Crockett Academy (4851 14th St) in Detroit. During the camp, children are involved in team sports such as: volleyball, basketball, kickball, baseball and more, arts and crafts, group mentoring, outdoor recreational play and are also served by a mobile dentist. Meals are provided by Good Samaritan Food and is run by up to 25 volunteers! Field trips are also optional and available! This year's theme is "Celebrate and Laugh," the fireworks is a tradition in Metro-Detroit, get a magnificent view of the fireworks at One Woodward on the 19th floor! Enjoy a barbecue style meal, laughs by Comedians Mic Larry and Simply Shanell and enjoy the sounds of singing sensation and recording artist Johnyce! There will be music, dancing and many activities, as well as a VIP charter ride to and from the event! But most of all, you will be a part of helping the Avengers...

Week #1 - Faith Camp present "Be a Hero" We welcome you to Week #1 of 3 weeks of fun, adventure, and learning. Our hope is that the Faith Camp experience will follow your child home and bless your family. Faith Camp is for children who have completed Kindergarten - 5th grade by June, 2016. If you need Before Camp or After Camp Care, please choose that option below. Before Camp opens at 7:30 AM. After Camp closes at 5:30 PM. IMPORTANT: Students need to bring their own laptop with mouse to attend this program. Snacks, Lunch, and beverages are NOT included. The program may be consolidated in one or two school sites based on enrollments. Parents will be informed at least one week prior to program start date. In this program, students learn about 3-D Printing, Vehicle engineering by rapid prototyping, and Computer Programming. They work in teams to build their own battery operated cars and race it on the final day. They learn 3-D modeling tools to make their own 3-D designs. Students will - 1. Learn how an engineer takes an idea from paper to a prototype. 2. Learn what is CAD/CAM and how it is used by Engineers. 3. Develop a design solution using given design constraints. 4. Evaluate competing conceptual design solutions for decision making 5. Plan and execute experiment; Collect and interpret data gathered by experiments; Use experimental data for an improved design solution 6. Learn about 3-D printing.
