Fall 2016 will be here before we know it and Field Hockey Tune-Up gives the foundation to be ready for the season. Skill development, fitness training, and teamwork are hallmarks of this established program. Basic skills, stick handling, rules, and field positions are taught through drills and game play. Rigorous conditioning, "eating to play," and strategies for rest and recovery are all part of the program; athletes learn to prepare not just for a single season, but for a life of physical activity. Coach Mike Wellington teaches physical education at Brookwood School. He serves as a U.S.A. Field Hockey Level II Certified Northeast Region coach and coaches U16 Premier Field Hockey for Seacoast United. As the Assistant Athletic Director and a beloved varsity field hockey coach for over twenty years, he has helped players from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Eight find their physical strengths and talents. Your West Circle Drive Hy-Vee is offering a series of cooking classes designed to teach teens (age 12-17) essential cooking skills! Each class will feature a different theme. Teens will be able to eat their creations at the end of the class. July 28th: Italian cooking: pastas and sauces Classes will be taught in our DISH classroom by the in-store dietitian and one of our talented chefs. Fees: $25 per class, due on date of registration. Get information on all the fun things there are to do this summer and meet over 30 great camps in our area while enjoying live entertainment, carousel and train rides, crafts and face painting. There will be live kids rock band performances from Live Music Community. Also, JupiterBounce.com will be there with some bouncing fun for the kiddos. This free event is brought to you by Macaroni Kid of Palm Beach Gardens- Jupiter in conjunction with Downtown at the Gardens and charity partner Resource Depot. Proceeds from the carousel and train rides benefit Resource Depot. The event will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2015 at Downtown at the Gardens, 1701 Lake Victoria Gardens, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 from 11-3pm. This is a free event and open to the public. Musical Improv - Pop Songs Level 1 - Eric Schackne - iO West
Musical improv may seem daunting. Well, imagine your very first few rounds of Hot Spot or Freeze Tag. Did you not die and it got easier? You eventually discover the timing and structure of new forms, which allows you to be more present, creative, and/or funny on stage. Once you learn the simplicity behind improvising a catchy pop song, you may even start to embrace that one team member who loves to break into song at some point every single show. This song workshop will bring you through main aspects of pop sensibility (Memorable Choruses, Supportive Verses, Bridges & Structure). Three weeks culminate in an improvised musical experience that has never been done before and will never be done again - save for your audience members humming your tunes on the way out of the theatre Sessions are led by Eric Schackne, iOwests Music Director and house accompanist. Eric has a breadth of experience spanning teaching/performing/studying improv comedy and songwriting/composing/producing, which provides him a progressive approach to the musical improv niche. Description: Generation Infocus invites tinkering girls and boys to participate in the fashion design/wearable technology STEAM studio to learn how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics all can be used to transform the things we wear. This design-based studio will immerse students in the mathematical concepts surrounding garment engineering and how circuitry can be incorporated into clothing to make them light up! Students will learn the basics of hand and machine sewing to be equipped to engage in garment construction challenges such as creating a superhero themed e-textile cuff. This is the rescheduled date for the class that was supposed to be on January 23rd, but had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. 404-525-5561
