Babysitters in Training Camp @ Miller Creek School - Miller Creek School
Marinwoods camp for middle school students mixes the skills taught in babysitter training with the fun of camp! Campers will learn basic child care, the business of babysitting, become certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid, and receive an American Red Cross Babysitter Training Certificate. They will also practice cooking skills, learn kid-friendly games, go swimming and have the opportunity to work with our youngest camps. This week will leave campers with the confidence and knowledge to start taking care of little ones! Camp fee includes babysitter handbook & certificate and First Aid/CPR certification. Ever wonder why a pedestrian is someone who travels by foot but a pediatrician is a childrens doctor? Knowing that pedestrian is from the Latin word pedes (foot) and pediatrician is from the Greek word pedia (child) will help you not only keep these common words straight, but also decipher more obscure words derived from the same roots. 65 percent of English comes from Greek and Latin. A solid foundation in the Greek and Latin roots of English provides skills to decode a word, often without looking it up. Not curious yet? Camp Will is a specialized therapeutic summer day camp for children, adolescents and young adults (ages 6 through 23 years) with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to build confidence and self esteem, enhance social skills, foster independence, and provide an exciting and fun-filled summer through various activities, such as music, art, sports, recreation therapy, and more. Global Premier Soccer-Maine and NYA will partner to offer a comprehensive soccer program on NYAs campus for students ages 8-13. Each day will focus on a different aspect of the game including passing and receiving, ball control, attacking/defending principles and shooting. The camp will conclude with a mini World Cup tournament on Friday afternoon which parents will be encouraged to attend. Alongside this, we will be running a Coaches Challenge where the students will compete against their coaches with prizes on the line.
