The Youth Skills Camp will introduce boys and girls to the sport of volleyball. The focus is on providing a positive environment for learning and sharing on and off the volleyball court. A variety of drills, games and competitions will be used to complete the understanding of each skill. Instruction is provided by members of the current Chico State coaching staff. All Chico State Volleyball camps will be held in Acker Gymnasium on the campus of Chico State University. A fee of $25 will be charged for any registration cancelled prior to the start of camp. Max Lax is a co-educational sports camp that focuses on introducing children to the sport of lacrosse as well as other cooperative games. Your child will learn the basic skills of lacrosse and participate in different games, which will help with the development of those skills while also having fun. At camp your child will also play different team building and cooperative games such as capture the flag, water balloon team tag, lacrosse baseball, dodge ball and European handball. The campers will also have the opportunity to cool off from the summer sun on the camp favorite: Max Lax Mega Slip n Slide. Summer Sessions - Cycling - Road Camp - Killington Mountain School
The KMS Cycling Summer Road Camp is a great way to improve your cycling and learn a lot about the sport. Through a combination of training rides, training races, skills work, drills, gym work, demonstrations and discussions, you will become a better cyclist and, more importantly, learn how continue to improve long after the camp ends. This is not intended to be an easy camp with a lot of down time; rather, it is targeted toward 13 to 16 year-olds who are intrinsically motivated to take their road cycling (i.e. Road Race, Criterium, and Time Trial) to the next level. Expect to be on your bike most of the week! There will be bike fitting, guest appearances from local professional racers, a trip to a local training race, instruction on strength and conditioning (and the importance of rest/recovery), discussion of nutrition/hydration basics, long group rides where we work on peloton riding skills, clinics on cornering, sprinting, pedal stroke, bumping, and other skills, clinics on bike maintenance and set-up, lessons on how to prepare for races, training technology, race tactics, discussions on pathways to the Junior National Team and elite levels of cycling, and more.
