Have fun reading a required summer reading book in a group setting. With the use of a variety of reading strategies, the course covers the reading of Maniac Magee. Students are asked to purchase the novel prior to the first class. All students should read the first two chapters of the book they are assigned before June 20th. Additional reading at home will be required. For the creative rider who derives their inspiration from the bicycle, this is the camp to let their imagination go wild. From small trinkets to a funky custom bike, the possibilities are endless. Campers comb over unserviceable bikes, salvage parts that inspire them, and breathe new life into them by fashioning their own bike-based crafts. Time tends to be split evenly between rides and crafts. Acoma Bears A, Full Day - Hopkins Campus
Join Camp Acoma Bears for a summer of action, creation and relaxation in six unique sessions. Local field trips serve as capstones and opportunities for more hands-on learning and adventure. A foundation of Camp Acoma is developing strong relationships with other campers and counselors. Blake faculty and counselors who are caring role models with unique talents lead Camp Acoma. Our counselor-to-student ratio is below 1:8. Dedicated arts and physical education faculty deepen athletic and artistic experiences throughout each session. Please pack a nut-free lunch, afternoon snack and water bottle for your child each day. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available. Camp Acoma Bears takes full advantage of Blakes rolling acres, pool (Hopkins campus only), gymnasium, ice arena (Hopkins campus only) and nearby lakes. Each session offers hours of swimming lessons and water-based activities. A personalized swim assessment guides the instruction of each child and Red Cross Certified lifeguards serve as instructors. New or reluctant swimmers will be guided gently in water adjustment and learn-to-swim exercises. Ice skating in Blakes arena will be offered twice a week (Hopkins campus only). Come for all 5 days or drop in for the day! Our drop in workshops are aimed at beginner to intermediate level students. Because our classes are small groups, instructors can gauge each students skill level and assign daily projects accordingly. Students will learn about the basics of compositing and visual effects. They will use different techniques such as green screen, color correction, image stabilization, 2 point tracking, blending modes, stencils and more with different projects each day. 9146448100.0
