Age Range: 5 to 12 Spread your creative wings in this whimsical camp that celebrates the magic and beauty of our favorite woodland creatures Wizards, Fairies and Trolls. We will use our big imaginations to think small while crafting fairy worlds out of art supplies and objects found in nature, explore the wizardry aspects of art and create trolls. Thanks to John "Jack" Wachlarowicz (SCV-MDHA Board of Directors & MN DNR Hunter Education Instructor) and his professional instructors and the MN DNR, this is a weeks opportunity of a lifetime for any kid!!! Not only do kids get tremendous instruction with Archery but we try to instill a greater sense of the outdoors and taking advantage of our nations parks! Featured Fieldtrip: Science Museum, St. Paul - featuring the National Parks Omni Movie attraction, Thursday, July 21. Sammy Slug Summer Camp, Session #8b, Half Day - Youth Programs
Sammy Slug Summer Camp is offered by the Office of Physical Education, Recreation & Sports (OPERS) for boys and girls entering 1st through 6th grades. Based at the East Field House, this camp is offered in one-week sessions June to August. There are half day and full day options, and pre-camp and post camp care is available. Throughout the week the 5 camp tenants which are Responsibility, Respect, Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Team Building are reinforced and integrated into the curriculum. Camp activities include a variety of sports such as basketball, tennis, frisbee, and soccer; outdoor recreation such as hiking and swimming; and other arts, crafts and outings to keep the campers engaged, active and creative. With a camper to staff ratio of 10:1, the camp focuses on creating a safe environment with a program designed, implemented, and staffed by experienced recreation professionals and UCSC students. All staff are screened through a criminal background check, certified in First Aid/CPR and trained in safe practices. GRADES 1st - 5th LOCATION East Field House
