Camp Carlyle at Carlyle House Historic Park, in Old Town Alexandria, encourages children to explore history through challenging, engaging, and fun activities. We highly value and encourage inclusion of all campers in all activities. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about 18th century games, clothing, schooling, culinary techniques, trade and money, and city life. Campers will also have opportunities to take offsite field trips to other historic sites in Old Town Alexandria that include the George Washington Masonic Memorial, Alexandria Archaeology Museum, Gadsbys Tavern Museum and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum. The final day of camp includes an all-day offsite field trip to a historic site or museum. This annual leadership training camp is a gathering of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual, allied, and intersex (LGBTQQAAI) designed and created by youth activists and allies who are dedicated to defeating homophobia and transphobia and creating brave, supportive schools for everyone. Camp is driven by young people. He has created the much-heralded Holistic Hoops training system. Recent players that have learned this system have gone on to excel in junior high and high school varsity teams.
