Calling all scientists! I KNOW SCIENCE brings together FUN and EXPLORATION by providing weekly labs that focus on important science concepts through hands-on experiments children love. I Know Science encourages children to discover through engaging activities. These are some of the experiments that our research-based curriculum offers: Building a Solar Powered Car; Chemical Reactions; Creepy Crawlies; Magnets; Ecosystems; Simple Machines; Our Magnificent Solar System and many more... Teen Community Emergency Response Team Camp - Peachtree City, GA
The Peachtree City Police Department will be hosting a Teen Community Emergency Response Team (TEEN CERT) camp beginning June 13th, 2016. The classes will be held Monday through Friday of that week ending on June 17th. The classes will start at 0800 and end at 1230 each day. The camp will be held in the training room at the Police Station. The TEEN CERT Program educates young adults about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Prospective candidates must be between 13 and 17 years of age at the time of registration and a resident of Georgia. Applicants will be required to complete an enrollment form and applicable waivers. The application and waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. A local check will be conducted to determine the background of the participants as a pre-condition to acceptance into the program. Our goal is to build confidence, develop skills, and learn about sportsmanship in a fun, age-appropriate atmoshpere. Led by experienced and professional staff, your camper willhave an action-packed experience they will never forget! Counselors are Certified Specialists in their fields. Junior Winds Camp 7/25-7/29 - New Jersey Youth Symphony
This camp will focus on fundamentals and strengthening the skills of young wind and brass players as well as performance. Students will work on two instruments their "major" instrument that they have been playing, and a "minor" wind or brass instrument of their choosing. Secondary instruments will be provided. The day will start with sectionals and technical fundamentals, after a snack and time playing musical Jeopardy and other games, campers will wrap up playing in the full ensemble. Six months playing experience required. Some 4th graders may be eligible to enroll with director approval. This camp takes place at 570 Central Avenue in New Providence. Lino Lakes Public Safety Department, Centennial Lakes Police Department, Centennial Fire District, Lexington Fire Department, and Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department present the Annual Safety Camp! Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of serious injury and/or death of children. This camp is taught by those who respond to those types of incidents each day in an effort to reduce the numbers of injuries that occur each year. The camp includes sessions on bike safety, fire safety, 911 procedure, water safety, personal safety, electrical safety, outdoor safety and first aid - all in an informative and fun atmosphere. The knowledge campers learn will allow them to make the right decisions when faced with unsafe conditions. Safety Camp is intended for children entering 4th grade the fall of 2016. Pre-registration is required and limited to the first 150 participants Priority will be given to residents residing in Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, Lexington, and Centerville until June 17. Our week long programs aboard the Capt. George seek to inspire nature connection through a maritime lens. Well explore the coastal ecology of Ipswich Bay and the Gulf of Maine each day, and carefully plan our days according to observed weather, tide and sea conditions. Above all else, we focus on keeping kids safe, warm (or cool!), and happy. We always depart the dock with a plan, and always change the plan as the day unfolds, as Mother Ocean and Mother Nature always leads. When she offers up something unexpected--a pod of dolphins frolicking across our path, feeding gannets, hungry bluefish and mackerel--we are very willing to change plans to make for the best experience possible.
