Help work to repair or modify the homes of families in need with other high school students from different denominations, states across the country and walks of life. Any students who are currently in 8-12th grade may participate. Dates: The Work Camp runs June 28-July 4, 2015 Payment Schedule: There is a 50.00 deposit due at registration, then 208.50 due by March 15 and then another 208.20 by May 15. Kids enjoy two sessions each night to teach critical skills in their sport or activity. Pre-kindergarten students (ages 4 and 5) will enjoy a craft session and a recreation session each evening. But that’s not all! Kids will also enjoy upbeat rallies filled with energetic music, fun sports stories, ultra cool object lessons, and Bible stories that will help them discover character traits that can help them excel in sports and in life. Junior Flyers offers younger campers an opportunity to experience Dayton basketball first hand. This one-day camp allows youngsters a preview of the Dayton Day Camp experience. Focusing on the fundamentals of basketball and having fun, this camp hopes to create a passion to play in young players. Staffed exclusively by the UD coaching staff and select players. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each session. Mountain Biking Camp - Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission
Trying to find something new and challenging for your child this summer? This week long Mountain biking camp will offer kids a great opportunity to explore the great outdoors and challenge themselves while learning fun, new cycling skills that they can use for years to come. We will explore great trails in and around the eastern panhandle, where the kids will learn how to climb, descend, and maneuver on rough and technical terrain. This sport is not only physical but fun too. Campers will need to provide an appropriate bike*, helmet, and wear appropriate clothes and footwear. Campers will also need to bring a bag lunch and plenty of water. On Friday, June 17th, there will be a bike check from 5-7pm at the Jefferson County Community Center for those enrolled in camp to make sure their bike and equipment are safe for camp. Children will take Jefferson County School buses to a different location each day during the week. Locations will include, Poorhouse Farm, Cacapon State Park, Greenbrier State Park and FLOC. Beginning Burlesque with Sasha Sullivan - Ah Haa School for the Arts
Burlesque is a celebration of femininity. Women of all ages come together for a fun-filled journey into this incredible art form, ultimately empowering their creative, sensual, feminine beings. Telluride Theatres own Sasha Sullivan and Melissa Harris, who have been teaching burlesque classes for four years, are excited take new students on an eight-week journey into the world of burlesque. They will start with the basics – the history, dance moves, striptease, creating a character, and owning your space. Students will develop their very own burlesque character and walk away with a full routine, a set of pasties, and a portrait. At the close of the class, some students will be chosen to perform at BURLESQUE, a live variety show on the Sheridan Opera House stage at the end of March, a benefit for Telluride Theatre.
