Youth Curator Camp Virginia Museum of Natural History Saturday, December 19 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth Curator Camp is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to learn about the museum while participating in fun, hands-on activities and programs. Parents and guardians – this is a great opportunity for your children to experience a day of scientific adventure and discovery while you finish up any last-minute holiday shopping! Campers will meet the museum’s scientists and learn about real museum collections. There will be demonstrations of the casting and molding program, with children having the opportunity to create, paint and take home their very own fossil cast! In addition to these unique activities, campers will enjoy pizza and a movie in the museum’s Education Center. Camp is around the corner and we are excited about it! This year’s theme is “EXCHANGE.” We have felt God tug at our hearts and steer us in this direction with this theme in mind. When the Apostle Paul received his calling from God, he wrote “… for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8, NKJV). An exchange occurred in his life. He left behind knowledge, position, and commodities to live his life for Christ. Our goal for this year’s youth camp is for young people to understand that in every EXCHANGE, something must be given up in order for something to be gained; and our ultimate goal is to gain Christ.

Price includes $25 lab fee. Campers spend the week conducting more than 25 fascinating and fun chemistry experiments. Emphasis is on safety, chemistry history, proper use of chemistry lab equipment, and an introductory understanding of chemical symbols and reactions. This camp is a great way to prepare for high school and even college chemistry. Experiments include: metal flame tests, paper chromatography races, fluorescent polymer slime production, litmus indicator solutions, electricity in a test tube, a boat that runs on soap, and many more! 805-570-1988
