Jump in, be big and bold, laugh, and learn the basics of acting through the wild, wonderful world of improvisation! Learn to think quickly on your feet and act from the top of your head in this fun, silly, and engaging camp. Play and perform favorite short form improv games, including those seen on TVs hit show Whose Line Is It Anyway?. Students gain confidence in public speaking, expressing themselves using their body and voice, and facing fears of stage fright and performance anxiety. No experience necessary; come one and come all. Class culminates in an original improv show for family and friends; written, created, hosted, and performed by the students. Intentional programming focuses on increasing youth’s social and developmental skills. Increased confidence and self-reflection happens when staff members push campers outside of their comfort zones. Youth learn a lot about themselves and the world thanks to team-building activities, icebreakers, and a well-rounded curriculum. PARENTS will participate in a video and peer to peer discussion based workshop to learn tools and techniques to help you manage thru the teen years. TEENS will participate in a Boot CAMP(Confident Adolesents Maturing Positively) and discuss topics such as, peer pressure, building confidence and communication skills, managing emottions and making healthy choices.
Paddle New York: Summer Camp Weekend Moose River - Lyons Falls, NY
The Moose is a classic northeast creek. Big drops with multiple options for cool new lines. Intermediate and advanced boaters are welcome! Boat demos will be available from Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company, and paddles will be available for demo from Werner Paddles. Friday: Evening: Arrive at Fowlersville put-in and set up camp. Drinks and food around a campfire Saturday: Morning first timers run. Creeking clinics will be available. Potentially detour to another local run Sunset lap BBQ Sunday: Creeking clinics will be available. Campers get a head start on simple robotics using LEGO® WeDo™ components and easy to use software. Our young creators will build models, attach sensors, and motors that are plugged into a computer, and configure behaviors using a simple programming tool. Counselors guide campers through their first 12 robot models, which include a variety of animals, soccer players, amazing mechanisms, and adventure stories. If ready, campers than move to advanced building and programming projects that include: a Racecar, Ferris wheel, and Carousel. As the week draws to a close, campers can utilize the skills they have learned to build and program their own creations.
