CBMM’s Kids Club summer camps for 6-7 Year Olds - Saint Michaels, MD
Beginning June 20 and continuing through July 29, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is offering its week-long, half day Kids Camps, which bring age-appropriate Chesapeake-themed camps for children 4-7 years of age. Led by a CBMM educator, young Kids Club campers explore the magic of the Chesapeake Bay’s people, animals, and watercraft through fun and interactive activities, stories, games, and crafts. CBMM’s summer camps for children 4-5 years of age are offered during the weeks of June 20, July 4, and July 18; camps for children 6-7 years of age are offered the weeks of June 27, July 11, and July 25. Daily camps take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with campers meeting at CBMM’s Dorchester House and exploring the museum’s 18-acre campus and numerous exhibition buildings as part of the program. Participation is limited, with camps filling fast and pre-registration required. The cost for the week-long camp is $125 for CBMM members, or $150 for non-members, with scholarships available. Skyhawks Multi-Sport, Ages 7-12, Licensed - Bliss Park
Our multi-sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting while teaching them vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline. For this program we combine Ultimate Frisbee, Capture the Flag and Kickball into one fun-filled week. Please wear sneakers and bring a peanut free snack, water bottle and sunblock daily. 3-year olds (who are toilet trained) to children entering Kindergarten may enroll for 5, 3 OR 2 half days of preschool. A small class size of 8 students to 1 early childhood certified teacher enhances learning. The groundwork for early language, math and science skills is formed utilizing multi-sensory, child-centered activities. A unique phonics-based teaching system brings the alphabet to life, as it lays the foundation for reading. Each session is 4 weeks long - 5 day option: Monday-Friday - 3 day option: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 2 day option: Tuesday, Thursday *Please consider sending your 4 or 5 year olds to our PreK kindergarten readiness Camps (see "2016 Summer Themed Camps" and look for PreK camps). These afternoon sessions are an opportunity for your 4 or 5 year old to prepare for a full day of school. Have you ever wondered how our ancestors survived in the wild? This week will dispel some of the mystery as you learn skills all cultures have used for time eternal. Learn how to make cordage and fire using primitive techniques. Learn how and where to build a survival shelter that you can actually sleep in on our Wednesday campout. Of course, no week of Mountain Kids would be complete without moments of serendipity where we get curious and learn from nature and play.
