Wind down after a long day of art-making. Well play games, work on projects, SWIM, and have fun. Enrollment in this activity is only for kids enrolled in Fine Art Studio Camps taking place at the Palo Alto Art Center in the same week as the Post Camp. Children not picked up on time will be charged $30 per each half hour late. Kick off the summer by celebrating colorful Colorado. Join us as we learn why aspens grow in groves, find signs of mountain pine beetle, and study the natural world around us. Come explore our beautiful state by train, by foot, and through the eyes of a miner. Get excited to find out what makes Colorado radical! A number of our projects this week will be inspired by the natural world that surrounds us in Connecticut, the Nutmeg State. The seashore, woods and fields of our state lend themselves to three-dimensional and decorative applications. Some of the things I have planned are bird feeders, bug mugs and fancy fish sculptures. Flowers, leaves and animals can adorn our wheel thrown pots. You will have some time to work on your own ideas. There will be outdoor sketching, glazing and painting. In this class students will be making both dip candles and mold candles, stirring the hot pot of melting material… just like magicians. Students will add a variety of pigments to create different colors and use essential oils creating different experiences of scent. Students will be taking home their candle creations. 206-957-1533
