PICASSO (1.5 hrs) FRI 3:30-5:00 - Loudoun Arts Center
Teachers will focus on strengthening the students technique and improving technical skill. Once students are equipped with the appropriate skills, they will feel confident in transforming their ideas and personal style into tangible art pieces. Class Objective: Students will be provided tools to transform their concept sketches into fully fleshed out artistic creations. When equipped with appropriate skills, students will gain confidence and the ability to refine their execution. 703-444-5888
Horses Horses Horses - Camp Mardela
Campers will have opportunities to learn about horses and equestrian safety, and they will experience riding. Campers will stay at Camp Mardela and travel offsite for riding activities. Activities may vary based on schedules and availability. In addition to Horse Camp activities, there will be time for traditional camp activities. Junior Adventurers: Outdoor Explorers - Junior Adventurers!
Calling all junior adventurers for another summer of discoveries! In this half-day camp, your sons will enjoy all that The Heights campus has to offer. With beautiful stands of native tree species, numerous bird boxes, and a room full of past discoveries, there will be no lack for exciting new areas of learning. Two days will be dedicated to the animal kingdom – mammals, insects, reptiles and more. Another will focus on seeds and plants. – we cant live without them! Two days will also be devoted to experiments and discovery, bringing their knowledge to life. In the course of daily adventures around campus, campers will climb the trees theyve heard about and capture the insects theyve drawn. With a take-home booklet filled with artistic learning exercises, your son will be drawing on his discoveries from this camp for years to come! Staff: Peter Vitz, 4th grade homeroom teacher, has taught natural history at The Heights for 5 years. Contact: Peter Vitz at The Heights School, Notes: Usual dress is normal summer attire. Learn about the different ways ceramics have been used in other cultures while exploring a variety of clay techniques. Well create our own examples of unique clay vessels, such as Egyptian Canopic jars, Russian nesting dolls, and Latin American maracas. 970.728.3886
