A Usdan Visit and Information Session is an excellent way to learn about our many summer programs and what makes them both fun and educational. We begin with a guided walk through campus, introducing the music, art, dance, theater, writing, chess, nature and recreation departments. Our administrative leadership will share a few ideas about what shapes the Usdan program, from where we draw our inspiration, and what makes a summer at Usdan unlike any other. We will explain the enrollment process, and you will be given a chance to talk in small groups, or individually, with our knowledgeable team of arts faculty and staff members. We end the visit with a self-guided walk and exploration of the grounds. Kids and digital cameras in nature – a recipe for fun and stunning images! Campers will capture their unique perspectives of the natural world on their daily adventures in the mountains. On Thursday, campers will have time to select, edit and crop a photo for a Friday art show and celebration! Bricks4Kids provides a fun learning space where students can play and socialize with friends and learn at the same time. Building on the universal popularity of LEGO ® bricks, each hour-long class is a fun, enriching experience as kids build a new project each week. Using unique models that are different from the kits found in any store, each unit is based on engaging themes such as space, inventions, famous buildings and more. We kick things off with a discussion about key concepts related to the model, then get right into the building. Working with a partner, your child will experience the hands-on fun of seeing a model come together piece by piece, from concept to completion. Mealworms stop by for a visit - well keep track like scientists as we watch them change! Supervisor: West Shore Scuba. Students will learn how to correctly put on and adjust their equipment, control their breathing and get accustomed to being underwater and using scuba equipment. They will put their new found skills to use while performing Aqua Missions underwater. In addition to their water time, the students will continue their learning out of the pool and discuss marine biology. The only items that you will need to bring with you are a bathing suit, a towel and a release form. This camp is conducted by West Shore Scuba, a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) dive center.
