If you are starting a college search this year, it is important that you understand this issue and how any college your student may be considering addresses it. The problem is real and widespread: 1 in 4 college women reports being sexually assaulted and, since 2014, over 180 complaints against colleges have been filed in Federal Court for mishandling sexual assault complaints. Join us to learn about sexual assault on college campuses, find out why it's come to the forefront now, and what you need to know to assess campus safety (policy, culture, Title IX violations). We will also discuss affirmative consent and alcohol/drug use. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. The HCA fine arts academy is geared toward those students who are serious about visual arts. Their day will include 2 sessions studio time with different teachers learning to work with acrylic, ceramics, watercolor, pastels and pencil drawing. The students will also work on a group activity each day and spend time outside. ALL ART SUPPLIES INCLUDED. Please bring a lunch, snack and water bottle each day. This program integrates LEGO® with scientific and mathematical principles in a FUN and EXCITING way! Teaching is conducted using customized LEGO® kits with motors, gears and batteries. The programs utilize an Edutainment (Education + Entertainment) approach, transforming the learning process into a game while introducing children to theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Each participant will discover new subjects and will build/play with (2) different models each day. Teaching is conducted using customized LEGO kits with motors, gears and batteries. Receive professional tennis instruction in a fun group environment. Well cover the basics from proper footwork and grips to stroke production and movement. Basic skills including volley, forehand, backhand and serving will be taught through games and drills. For beginner through intermediate players. Supplies: Campers should bring their own tennis racket and water each day. All campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as with additional sunscreen, as needed.
