[] This summer, for our first session of the day, the ALL NEW "Power of Drawing!" summer classes will take you on adventures to places, spaces, and other worlds with specialized drawing workshops. First, we zoom to the farthest reaches of the galaxy with our new friend, Sketch, and his colorful cast of cartoon friends! From astronauts in jetpacks to out-of- this-world alien lifeforms, our students will learn how to compose well-drawn cartoon figures in dynamic poses. Then we tackle a world of monsters, creatures, and creeps - from furry to scaly! For our adventure in Color and Design, each student will create a personalized Japanese kimono, an Escher-like graphic, or a study in primitive art. For the last adventure of the day, all artists will choose either still life drawing or portraiture as a study in technique. We will explore fine art (realistic, stylized, and abstract), graphic design, and cartooning using pastels, colored pencils, and professional marker techniques that will enhance ones analytical and perceptual drawing skills! Back by popular demand, Footsteps Sports Camp led by Coach Adrian! This is a fun and interactive camp for campers who want to explore different sports and non-competitive games. Our camp promotes cooperation, teamwork, and everyone participating. Campers participate in soccer, flag football, dodge ball, tennis, swimming, and a variety of outdoor games. Friday afternoons the campers swim at local pools and take a weekly sports related field trip. Adrian and his staff of coaches make sure the day is balanced with two healthy snacks and time indoors out of the sun! Well look at airbrush selection and maintenance, paint mixing, and youll develop the skills needed to control and manipulate the airbrush for whatever your subject. Girls entering grade 5 in Fall 2016 will spend the night at camp with their unit on Wednesday, July 27., and will participate in Archery (additional waiver form required). Theyll peel back the layers and discover how their complex organs work: learn about disease, how our body fights back, the role of mucus; and digestion, from spit to….. well, you get the idea. Theyll uncover how the brain works through their own personal webcam, investigate the impact of food, exercise and sleep; and discover how bones and muscles are like cookies and pancakes. Campers will perform hands-on experiments as they learn about body temperature and fevers, take blood pressures, bandage wounds, and create herbal medicines.
