2016 Pan-Orthodox Youth/Camp Workers' Conference - Dallas, TX
The Orthodox Church in America, on behalf of all Eastern Orthodox Youth Ministry/Camping Departments in America, is delighted to host this Annual Conference in 2016 at St. Seraphim's Cathedral in Dallas, TX. Clergy, campus ministers, youth workers, camp leaders, and volunteers gather every January for fellowship, worship, and continuing education. Apart from our Keynotes focused on Crisis, Trauma, and Everyday Life and Self-care For the Shepherds, there will be workshops focusing on: Campus Ministry Camping Programs Parish-based Youth Ministry
Kid's do Strollfit - Norman, OK
Second annual kids do Strollfit class. All kids are welcome to bring their baby stroller, lawn mower, anything they can push and they will do their own Strollfit class. Prizes will be given for best decorated vehicle/push item. I will assign older kids an exercise to teach to the other kids (generally 4 and up). Moms, please help them and practice with them. If you have a younger one that would like to teach, let me know and I will add them. Don't want to exclude any who wants to teach!! Be sure you bring your camera. This is the cutest class of they year!! The Mariachi program is designed to provide high school students with expert instruction from active professionals. It is open to entering 10, 11, 12 graders. This season provides excellent opportunity for young musicians to improve their individual performance skills. Discover the animal kingdom through music! Calling all the movers and shakers to sing, dance and play instruments as part of this amazing animal adventure. Learn about creatures big and small - from your backyard and around the world - as you meow, bark or roar, or sing songs about them. Campers will enjoy musical activities, animal stories, crafts and pretend play, and might even tame their own inner wild animal along the way! We will be offering diving class to ages 6 to 18 years of age. The only requirement is that you are able to swim 25-yards of the pool and tread water for 1 minute in water over their heads. Basic diving skills and safety will be taught from the side of the pool and on two 1 - meter boards. Each child will progress at their own rate, beginning with essential techniques, while working on strength, flexibility and mechanics. Oh the things that live under rocks! If you only knew what cool creatures are under there, youd never snorkel in more than a foot of water again! Well spend a week turning over rocks to see what teeny-tiny creatures we can find living in the ocean. Marine worms, tiny crabs, tiny crustaceans and nudibranchs and all kinds of algae. Well bring some rocks to our tanks to watch more closely. Well leave no rock unturned. And since were talking about the highly prized wave zone (in wavier places), well crash around in our own splash zone and compete for space to imagine where a limpet or barnacle is supposed to go when all the rocks are full.
