When the water gets low the Black is the place to be. Great playboating at Hole Brothers, and a great river running all weekend. Boaters of all skill levels are welcome. Friday: Evening: Sunset surf session at Hole Brothers. Drinks and food at Maggie's on the River. Saturday: Morning surf session followed by a river run Freestyle clinics will be available. Sunset surf session Evening: Cookout in the campground Sunday: Freestyle clinics will be available. Freestyle Competition and/or Gorge Race Awards and Wrap-Up Camping: Black River Bay Campground. We will be in the tenting area which is located on the left just downhill from the Challengers Rafting Base. 2016 Pre-Teen Summer Camp – Register March 9-11 - Scott Air Force Base
Youth, ages 9-13, are invited to register for the YP Pre-Teen Summer Camp which is held weekdays during the summer months from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This camp offers half day care with extracurricular activities for youth. Field trips will be conducted once a week to places like Sky Zone, City Museum, Raging Rivers Water Parks, The Fusion, laser tag, as well as excursions to base activities. (Field trips/activities such as bowling are an additional cost.) Fee: $100/child per week, plus the cost of excursions. Youth Programs membership is required. Annual Program membership is $48/child. Camp begins at 6:30 a.m., and ends at 12:30 p.m. when open recreation at the Youth Center starts. Youth are required to bring their own meals, however the snack bar is open periodically. Limited slots are available, sign-up early! The seashore, woods and fields of our state lend themselves to three-dimensional and decorative applications. Some of the things I have planned are bird feeders, bug mugs and fancy fish sculptures. Flowers, leaves and animals can adorn our wheel thrown pots. You will have some time to work on your own ideas. There will be outdoor sketching, glazing and painting.
