Campaign Strategies Training: "Ending Youth Incarceration" - Webinar
This past year, social media has been flooded with violent images of the over policing of marginalized communities. We have felt the detrimental impact of state sanctioned violence, which has led to too many of our children, parents, friends, family and community members behind bars. CJNY member organizations continue to do the critical organizing and advocacy work to resist the structural racism within our justice and education systems. In a continuous effort to develop the skills we need to hold systems accountable for over criminalizing our communities, we are very pleased to bring to you: Youth First Initiative’s Campaign Strategies Training: “Ending Youth Incarceration” Space is limited so please register today using this link. http://goo.gl/forms/IVs7dNv92H Once you register, you’ll be provided with the call in information. This session will highlight examples of successful campaigns to close youth prisons, discuss lessons learned from these campaigns and other advocacy efforts, and cover steps for kicking off a campaign in your state to end youth incarceration. Facilitator: Liz Ryan, founder of the Youth First Initiative: a national Juvenile Justice campaign with the goals of halving youth incarceration in 15...

1st Session - Crochet / Knitting/ Paper Folding - YSCP
Instructor: Ms. Anamaria Here is the summary for the club. Below it is the summary for me: Crochet/Knitting and Paper folding In this club we focus on learning basic crochet or knitting techniques. This includes learning how to read charts. Students choose between knitting or crochet to start. They have option of learning the other later. Squares are the main building blocks for all of the projects. Projects will be up to the students to choose. They range from a scarf, book cover to a basic shirt. There will also be small non-square projects like mustaches, flowers and balls. Focusing on squares gives participants a quick project that can easily be completed during club time after the first few sessions. It also allows for lots of color without having to change or join yarn. Small projects like these can easily be done anywhere. The possibilities are endless for completed projects. A completed scarf can easily become a blanket later on if they want with the simple addition of more squares. If time allows later in the semester and there is interest from the students, more stitches will be taught. For those wanting a break from crochet or knitting there will... 8142379727.0
