NIKE Basketball Summer Camp - Fairfax High School
Instructor: Awyee Storey Ages: 8-15yrs Mon ? Friday, Jul 11-15, 9:00am -3:00pm (M-TH); 9:00am-12:00pm (F) Location: Fairfax High School Field House (Gym) Led by former Washington Wizards forward Awvee Storey and his experienced staff, the camp will feature professional instruction for boys and girls, with the instruction designed for the specific skill level of the participants. Coach Storey was a standout collegiate basketball player at Arizona State University, before continuing his playing career professionally in the NBA with the Wizards, New Jersey Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks. Storey also competed professionally internationally in New Zealand and the Philippines. The instruction will focus on the game?s fundamentals, while instilling the importance of commitment, teamwork, character, and sportsmanship helping each camper reach his/her full potential. Debate Camp 2.0 - Recreation and Cultural Center
Debate Camp 2.0 (Grades 6 - 9) Debate Camp 2.0 is limited to participants who have already completed a week of Debate Camp in the summer of 2015, or who are registered for a week of Debate Camp for summer 2016 (If plan on registering for both programs at the same time you must register in person). It will be a faster moving and more advanced program designed to sharpen debate and mock trial skills at a more competitive level. Less time will be spent on the acquisition of skill through mini-lessons and modeling and more time will be spent engaged in competitive debates, mock trials, and political campaigns. Since less time will be devoted to the direct teaching of the fundamental debate and persuasive communication techniques, campers will be engaged in more debates and mock trials throughout the week. Campers will also be working in campaign teams to draw from the ideas of existing presidential candidates to design their own original political platform and run in a Mock-Campaign/Election for President of the United States! Summer Camp @ La Pintoresca Group C (11-12) - City of Pasadena
This is a 6 week camp that will run from June 27-August 5 from 8-6 pm. (Excluding 4th of July) This traditional camp is high-quality, fun and affordable. Activities include arts and crafts, physical fitness games and challenges, dance, visits to the onsite library at La Pintoresca Park and swimming. Campers play basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. Instruction is also offered in golf and tennis. Campers are escorted to Robinson Park Recreation Centers swimming pool for recreational swim two times per week. Staff go into the water with the campers and certified lifeguards are always present. Fun field trips are often the highlight of the week. Trips are an additional charge and are scheduled for once a week. This camp is a good fit for active campers who like sports and group activities. The ratio of staff to campers is 1 to 10. Campers are grouped by age, and lunch and a snack are provided. Camp culminates in the annual War Games in which Washington Park Camp and La Pintoresca Park Camps compete in a series of challenges to determine an annual camp champion.
