This camp is for the younger LEGO fan that is just getting into LEGO. JRS will learn basic building techniques, play building oriented games, and create from their own imagination. Projects like building racecars, animals, mosaics are few of the things the children will work on. Action LEGOs puts fun in motion as students learn how to use gears, motors, potential energy and balance to create numerous contraptions. Through the excitement of building, our summer camp students understand how gears translate motion and how different types of energy can propel vehicles and machines. After each building project, summer camp kids customize, share, and enjoy playing with their creations. Kids have many opportunities free building, playing Lego games creating their own amazing projects. We are focused on active learning because the development of the brain is so important in the early years and research proves that children learn by doing. We have a unique ability to excite and motivate kids to grasp programming and engineering concepts, yet we also place equal emphasis on celebrating STEM education and creativity. Boys Will Be Boys
Yes, boys will boys and that's why this camp experience was tailor made for our two pre-teens. It seems like they never run out of energy and this was the perfect environment to keep them busy. I also very much liked the ability to check in and see how they were progressing. The encouraging words from the counselors put our minds at ease because we knew they were be taken care of at every turn. Good job all around.... Read More...

Join the fun this winter as Dean-O and the Dynamos lead us in retro-rockin' worship and energetic chapel times. We'll play games, make crafts, make friends and don't forget about Sugar Pine's exciting winter activities. It's going to be a blast! Meet Dean-O: Dean-o is known for his energy and tenacity in reaching kids with the gospel, never forgetting he was a teen before hearing the good news of Jesus. It began in 1997 and has spread across the U.S. with over 1,700 performances in 40 states and a dove award nomination for children's album of the year. During these events and performances, over 10,000 children made first-time decisions to give their lives to Christ at concerts, camps, chapels, VBS weeks and large crusades. Dean-o considers his ministry an absolute gift from the Lord and a powerful tool to spread the gospel of Jesus through the gift of music. Join us after class for our special, annual Kid's Do Strollfit Class. All kids are welcome to bring a push toy (stroller, lawn mower, grocery cart, etc.). They can put a doll or stuffed animal in it to ride around. After class, the kids will do their own verson of Baby Boot Camp - Norman. It is sooooo cute. They learn so much by watching us, why not let them show off? Older Kids (usually age 3ish...), here is the list of exercises you can teach. Moms, please work with your child and help them show the exercise to the group and then do 5 reps. Sebastian: High Knees Whitely: Burpees Lanie: squats Cooper: push ups Who else wants to teach??? Just let me know and I will add them and their exercise. Also!! There is a prize for the best decorated push toy!!

Our theme for The Chapel Schools CARE BEAR this year will be Fairy Tales from Around the World. Young campers will acquire global awareness through literature. Children will enjoy learning about countries and their cultures while making creative arts and crafts projects. We will also have plenty of outdoor time for water play and games. Our In-House Field Trips always bring fun and fascinating visitors to our campus. We will once again have Dinosaurs Rock, Mad Science, Greenburgh Nature Center, and Animal Embassy along with magicians and storytellers to teach and entertain us. Pre-register for a 3pm audition time for Peninsula Youth Theatres CENTERSTAGE production of "SEUSSICAL." Registration guarantees you a spot in the 3pm audition group. You must be age 8-18 or have prior executive director approval. Children must be 8 by 3/17/16 to participate. PLEASE NOTE: TO KEEP YOUR SPOT you must arrive by 2:30pm with your paperwork completed for check in and measurements. If you have not arrived by 2:45pm your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list and you will be moved to the next available audition slot. We cannot guarantee that that will be the next audition group. Ages: Girls and Boys Entering Grades 7 - 10 Dates: July 5 - 8 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Format: One-week session Location: Laurels Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights Tuition: $320/session From candles to cosmetics, colorful canvases to clothing, there are many wonderful ways we use wax to beautify and enrich our lives. What is it about wax that appeals to our senses of touch, taste, sight and smell? Beeswax. Paraffin. Soy wax. Gel wax. In this camp you will learn how to work with wax as a creative medium that is as versatile as clay or metal. You will also explore how wax is made and how the very different chemical and physical properties influence what it is best used for! Campers will create their own candles, practice wax resist techniques and will even learn the age-old craft of encaustic painting (using melted wax as paint).
