Best Summer Ever
Our son just got back from the YMCA Camp and he can't stop talking about all the fun. We knew he was having a good time based on the photos he sent us but to see his face light up when he is retelling the stories is priceless. I'm sure we'll be hearing about the surf lessons, the horseback riding and the campfires for months to come! Be A Civil War Soldier: KID’S CAMP - Mansfield, LA
Have you ever wanted to be a Civil War soldier? Are you between 9-12 years old? On Saturday 24th, in connection with National Public Lands Day, Mansfield State Historic Site is hosting an “immersive” event that will allow you to experience what many of the soldiers of the American Civil War did. Be enlisted, set up your camp, drill, enjoy a period type lunch, and more! There are 15 slots available for this program and pre-registration is required. Registration is $25 (paid on day of program) for each child, which includes the meal. The last day for Pre-Registration is September 17th. Pathways from Medieval to Modern Knighthood - Lower School Gym Building G
Campers will learn the ways of the medieval world as they experience a week in the life of a knight in training. Campers will learn about medieval history, mythology, European martial arts, woodcraft, and a whole host of skills necessary for survival in the medieval world on the path to becoming a knight. The foundation of the camp will be learning the knightly art of combat with the two-handed longsword. Campers will use specially constructed training swords with nylon blades and safety equipment to learn the fighting techniques of the German style of longsword combat.
