ALAS is hosting the first ever annual Cinco de Mayo youth soccer camp for boys and girls ages 4-14. The attendees will have the opportunity to learn from NJCAA Division 1 Athletes and UIL State participating MP Tiger Alumni. These two beloved community organizations will come together to mentor your child, work on their technique and develop their skills. Take advantage of this great opportunity. Performing Arts Camp - Woodstock Town Hall Theatre
Sharon Groblicki will once again direct Pentangle Arts Summer Performing Arts Camp, with Nancy Boymer and musical direction by Bob Merrill. The theme this year is Children in Featured Broadway Roles, featuring songs and scenes from The Fantasticks, The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music. This years camp program teaches vocal technique and presentation, drama, improvisational theater, singing, and choreography. Classes are for children ages 8-13. Activities are indoors and outdoors. In addition, there will be some time allocated for swimming at the Woodstock Recreation Center– weather permitting – after lunch most days. Please note, if you child does not have a Rec Center swim pass, they will need $5 each day to cover the cost of using the pool. FOOD: Bring your own snack, lunch and water. Summer Basketball Camp - Grades 2-4 - Olathe Community Center
Here is a great opportunity for boys and girls to learn new basketball skills and improve on existing skills, all while getting a workout. Camp Director, Sean Birdsong, has been around the game of basketball for most of his life. The son of former NBA All-Star, Otis Birdsong, Sean played locally at Bonner Springs High School and collegiately at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. Sean has also played at the professional level in the CBA, PBL, and NBA D-League workouts. Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt. Full-Day Newcomer Camp - Stanford University
The Full-Day Newcomer Camp is for those who want to spend a full-day with the Stanford Coaching Staff and college players learning the game of golf! The philosophy of the Newcomer Golf Camp is to introduce the game of golf to juniors aged between 5 and 12 with either no experience or a couple of years of instruction. Campers will learn the fundamentals of the game in a safe, fun and stimulating environment. Instruction will be given at a pace intended to maintain the attention of campers and at the same time be appropriate for each individuals skill level. Active and energetic instructors will lead the youngsters through a series of games and exercises that will develop confidence and passion for the game. Groups will be organized by current skill level. The camp environment is designed to allow participants to meet other young golfers and help foster an enthusiasm and passion for the game. Girls Field Hockey - Brookwood School
Fall 2016 will be here before we know it and Field Hockey Tune-Up gives the foundation to be ready for the season. Skill development, fitness training, and teamwork are hallmarks of this established program. Basic skills, stick handling, rules, and field positions are taught through drills and game play. Rigorous conditioning, "eating to play," and strategies for rest and recovery are all part of the program; athletes learn to prepare not just for a single season, but for a life of physical activity. Coach Mike Wellington teaches physical education at Brookwood School. He serves as a U.S.A. Field Hockey Level II Certified Northeast Region coach and coaches U16 Premier Field Hockey for Seacoast United. As the Assistant Athletic Director and a beloved varsity field hockey coach for over twenty years, he has helped players from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Eight find their physical strengths and talents.
