Each day students will play sports that involve balls such as basketball, kickball, baseball, big base, and more! The camp will emphasize basic skills, playing as a team, and sportsmanship. Students must wear athletic shoes, along with bringing a water bottle and snack. No classes or camps will be held on Monday, July 4. 6127287745 x2
Sports Camp week 5- Basketball (ages 5-12) - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of basketball camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to excel in the sport including dribbling, passing (chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes), shooting (jump shots and full shots), and man to man defense. Agility and hand eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of basketball camp will focus on the basic rules such as traveling, double dribble, charging and blocking, as well as the duties of each position. Additionally modified games of basketball and cooperative games such as knock out, PIG, around the world and 21 will be played during the last hour. As the skills of each child advances, the third hour will consist of more realistic game like situations and a mini tournament based upon age group. Equipment will be provided. New This Year!
