This ten day camp begins on grounds and travels to the majestic high country of the Rocky Mountains for a conditioning phase before a five day backpacking expedition. Campers will each carry all of their and the group needs in backpacks as they transverse mountains and valleys. This camp is not for super athletes, but for the young person who is willing to resist fatigue and accept challenges which will take them to the next level and create great memories. Students will learn the basics of sailing; upwind, downwind, and sailing between two points, along with sail trim, knot tying and terminology. Campers will sleep "outdoors" in our enclosed yurts and cook two meals a day over an open fire. Worship under the stars nightly. No previous camping experience required! Pathways from Medieval to Modern Knighthood - Lower School Gym Building G
Campers will learn the ways of the medieval world as they experience a week in the life of a knight in training. Campers will learn about medieval history, mythology, European martial arts, woodcraft, and a whole host of skills necessary for survival in the medieval world on the path to becoming a knight. The foundation of the camp will be learning the knightly art of combat with the two-handed longsword. Campers will use specially constructed training swords with nylon blades and safety equipment to learn the fighting techniques of the German style of longsword combat. Over the week, we will evolve our training to the modern Olympic sword comparing the lives then, and the lives now of modern heroes. Offered in partnership with Midsouth Fencers Club 9194932642.0
