LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Summer Rec Camp Week One - Full Time - North Hampton School
Our mission is to provide a safe, peaceful and harmonious environment where campers can spend time with their friends while creating new ones. Summer Rec Camp consists of six weekly programs that run Monday to Friday (8:00 am to 4:00 pm). The Full Time program has a field trip every Tuesday and Thursday. Lunch, snacks and drinks must be provided by the parents/guardians. Outdoor activities and field trips are subject to the weather. Rain dates have been planned for appropriate trips. A camp tee shirt will be provided and must be worn on all field trips as well as to the beach. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All fees must be paid prior to the first day of camp. Cancellation of any weeks must be done two full weeks in advance, in writing, in order to be considered for a refund. Please, do not send food that contains peanut butter. We can have campers who are severely allergic so this will need to be monitored. Campers must be signed in when dropped off at 8:00 am and signed out when picked up at 4:00 pm. Teens Camp (ages 13-18) If your teen is looking for a fun way to spend their summer, this is it! Students wil learn beginner photography with Mirroless cameras that wil be provided to them. Creative techniques will also be introduced to help enhance their skills and imaginations! Students are required to bring their own SD card to each class. Class Schedule: 10-10:30- In class demo 10:30-11- walk to location 11-12:30- shooting on location 12:30-1- lunch 1- 1:30- walk back to classroom 1:30- 2- Printing best shots of the day Monday: Students will be introduced to their cameras and photography basics. After the presentation we will walk to the Space needle to work on composition assignments. Back in class students will print their 3 best shots of the day. On the way back to class we will introduce bokeh and students will have the chance to try changing the shape of their bokeh in South Lake Union. When : Sunday, June 12, 2016 12:00pm-4:00pm Where: Randall Oaks Park 1180 West Randall Road West Dundee, IL 60118 It's a multicultural camp! Everyone is welcome to join our camp! It's not just for the Lao people. :) We will be learning about the many cultures from the people who live in our community. Campers (Kindergarten - 8 grades) and youth leaders/volunteers (high school and college students) are encouraged to apply now! Space is limited. In addition to developing leadership skills, our youth leaders/volunteers will enjoy many benefits as they will be able to participate in all the activities as the campers do. Engineering Is Fun Grades 2-5 (Wednesday) - Janney Elementary School
Engineering Fun is an excellent hands on activity based STEM curriculum. Students learn basic concepts about Energy, Light, Motion and more. This class does not use games to engage kids in engineering/science concepts. Students learn thinking and reasoning skills needed for success. Engineering Fun engages children to apply what they know about science and math through hands on activities are based on real-world technologies and problems, they help children see how disciplines like math and science are relevant to their life. Activities include building a Tress Bridge; a hydraulic elevator, a hope glider and a catapult to name a few. 202-724-8950

This camp will emphasize basic skills, playing as a team, and sportsmanship. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals of soccer in a setting of encouragement and confidence building. Drills to improve skills will be added and games will focus on team play and scrimmages will be held to demonstrate tactical understanding. All participants need a soccer ball, shin guards, soccer shoes, a water bottle, a snack and sunscreen. For Boys and Girls ages 4-12 We are very excited about our location for the Summer!! This camp offers a combination of traditional sports games like floor hockey, soccer, basketball, flag football, handball, wiffleball, physical education activities such as tag games, pinball, battleship, virtual space tag, north south, gold rush, capture the football, and various cooperative games. We ask that our full day campers bring a (peanut butter free) snack and lunch and water bottle, and our half day campers bring a peanut butter free snack and water bottle. Children are divided by age into small groups and will participate in developmentally appropriate activities for their groups. Generally the groups contain children of no more than a year apart and we do our best to maintain an 8:1 ratio of campers to coaches and sometimes even 6:1 for our youngest groups.
