Floor Ballet - Building core strength and flexibility Homer Bryants Floor ballet class includes targeted and personalized exercises to help the dancer engage and control the key muscle groups used in classical dance. Strengthening for Pointe - Building Strong Feet and Legs. The strengthening for pointe class is designed to prepare the young student for pointe work. Picking up pencils with the toes, working with thera bands, doing repetitions of releves and eleves helps to strengthen the toes, ankles, and muscles of the entire foot and leg. In this class, guided by GMLS art teacher Victoria Polyak, students will explore various art forms - drawing, painting, printmaking, cartooning, and sculpture. Children will learn about composition, value, color and will create a beautiful portfolio of artworks to treasure. This class includes all art supplies! Students should choose one of the three programs as their primary focus but will interact with the other two programs throughout the week. 1. Learning To Lead: FINDING YOUR PASSION- focuses on skill building that will help girls grow as strong, confident leaders. Leaders-in-training work directly with women leaders from Saint Marys and the Raleigh community, both one-on-one and in group programming, to explore topics including leadership styles, public speaking, business etiquette, historical women leaders, navigating ethical dilemmas, resolving conflict, find your passion, and community engagement. Summer Inspired on the Farm - Deep Roots Community Farm
Join us for this three day farm adventure! We will plant, tend and eat fresh fruits and vegetables from the gardens, build with natural materials, and explore the farms streams, forests and native prairie. We will tend to the farm animals and learn about respectful methods of animal care. And of course, well make some awesome art projects together, including hand stitched journals, water color paintings, woodworking, origami, upcycled CD art and so much more. During this session our biology lessons will explore monarch butterflies and their habitats. All programming is led by Ana Skemp, M.S.
