Through observation and inquiry, students explore the Nature around them. In this session we take the children through nature trails and begin our journey with a trees parts and the role each part plays in a trees life cycle. After observing patterns in nature, students create their own design project that will reinforce the lesson learned. What makes a bird a bird? To find out, students go on a picturesque bird walk and use binoculars to observe birds closely. They comb the environment to investigate artifacts like feathers, feet, and skulls to discover how different birds learn to adapt and thrive in their special niches. A hands-on art project helps to reinforce this avian adventure. Through simple scientific observation and physical exploration, students investigate the nature of seeds, their role in the cycle of life, and interesting ways that they adapt, survive, and thrive in their environment. Students dissect seeds and then create their own seed mosaic. They learn about the lifecycles of bees and the role they play in pollination. Spark those curious minds and imaginations this summer at the Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe!) cMoe camps offer quality experiences and are led by certified teachers. In addition to the weekly themed activities, campers have daily exploration time in our museum. All full-day camps are available to children entering 1st-7th grade for the 2016-2017 school year. Full-day camps begin at 9am and end at 4pm with the option of extended care for only $25 per week. For cMoe members, camp is $135.00 per week! Non-members are $150.00 per week. Early Bird discount until March 25th! Camp themes include: STEM, Art, Wonderful Wizard World, Mad Science, Sleuth Camp and MORE! cMoe Mini Camps: Just for Preschoolers! Experience camp in a safe, structured, FUN environment facilitated by experienced educators. Weaving creative movement, dance, sensory exploration and play through tales of magic foxes, clever maidens, and dragons. This camp is a full body experience of storytelling and expression! Beginning from "once upon a time" Rachel Ann will lead children through interactive traditional stories that will take them long ago, far away and bring them back happily ever after. The Fitness and Character Education (FACE) program combines 25+ years training of Martial Arts, jumping rope, and juggling to guarantee results in agility, coordination, focus, and timing for todays youth. Sensei Kirk Farber incorporates building self-esteem and character education within every class session. Each session emphasizes the principles and concepts to enhance the individuals fitness skills while speaking on character traits. Camp will include the FACE class, outside activities, and agility/coordination training. Each week will have a different theme. Prizes will be earned at the end of each week.
