Environmental Art Camp (VSA Tennessee partnership) - Gallatin, TN
Environmental Art Camp is a program created specifically for individuals with disabilities over the age of 13 who are interested in the environment and have a love of art. The camp will be under the direction of VSA Tennessee teaching artist, Dee Kimbrell. During the camp, the young people will learn about environmental issues and their effect on our national parks. Participants will create their own tunnel books that reflect ecosystems within the parks. They will also create a larger tunnel book specific to the Smoky Mountain National Park. This book will be given to the park as a 100th anniversary gift at Tremont in October. The book will remain on site as an educational tool. Sports Camp - Week 6 - Far Brook School
Fundamentals Sports Camp is a six week program which may include basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, Summer Olympics, and flag football. Each week we focus on learning the rules and history of a sport, playing it at least once each day. Old camp favorites such as dodge ball, capture the flag, four square, and pirate ball are incorporated into the program as well. However, Fundamentals Sports Camp is not only about the games we play but it is our "off the field" curriculum that sets us apart form other sports day camps. Informal discussions on sports current events, character-building, sportsmanship, and choosing role models are held daily. Fundamentals teaches children the value of teamwork and commitment which are the essential elements of success in sports, as well as in life. Finish your summer with a cheer. Join us in the last week of the summer at Whetstone Community Center for cheer and tumbling fun. Campers will learn the basics of stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions, and dance. Our instructors will work with girls and boys ages 6-14 at all skill levels to help them reach their goals in a safe and fun environment. They will also participate in art activities focused toward cheerleading. On Friday afternoon, campers will showcase their cheer skills in a team performance for friends and family members. *Campers are required to bring an extra pair of clean tennis shoes.
