Piedmont Recreation is proud to partner with the City of Oakland Lake Merritt Boating Center. Piedmont Recreation offers transportation to and from these camps. The Basic Sailing Camp requires a swim evaluation that can be arranged through the Piedmont Community Pool at (510) 655-5163. SWIM EVALUATION IS REQUIRED. This entry level sailing class will definitely give kids a chance to get their "sea legs". The campers start off learning the parts of the sailboat and by weeks end theyll understand wind direction as it relates to propelling, and more importantly, controlling their sailboat. Boating: Basic Sailing Camp - Lake Merritt Boating Center
Piedmont Recreation is proud to partner with the City of Oakland Lake Merritt Boating Center. Piedmont Recreation offers transportation to and from these camps. The Basic Sailing Camp requires a swim evaluation that can be arranged through the Piedmont Community Pool at (510) 655-5163. SWIM EVALUATION IS REQUIRED. This entry level sailing class will definitely give kids a chance to get their "sea legs". The campers start off learning the parts of the sailboat and by weeks end theyll understand wind direction as it relates to propelling, and more importantly, controlling their sailboat. Games and drills on the water help to teach these basic skills. No experience is needed. If your child does not have a swim evaluation verification on file, a swim evaluation will have to be completed before the first day of camp.
