Summer Recreation Camp - (Week 3) Week 3: Superheroes We?ll find the hero in all of us this week. Who?s your superhero? Be ready for a fun filled week of superhero themed activities including our superhero day and our world renowned superhero obstacle course competition. Each day is designed a little different to offer campers with daily choices, physical exercise, and craft activities to ignite creativity, social and group development, nature and each week includes three special activities/events. Thursday the campers will take a trip to a New Hampshire State Park and Friday has its own theme and is definitely going to be two days campers do not want to miss! I cannot believe that I am a part of such an amazing organization that does so much good for kids struggling through so much adversity. Being in an organization like Camp Kesem has opened my eyes to how generous and kind people can be. Camp Kesem is an organization run by students who spend a ton of time all year fundraising money to allow children whose parents have or had cancer go to a fun, stress-free summer camp. Although this is my first year as a part of this wonderful organization, I already feel so strongly connected to all the counselors and want to do as much as I can to allow these kids to go to camp. Hearing all of these stories about how the kids tell such heart-warming stories, I feel like I would learn more from them than they would from me. It gets me even more excited to learn about all the various events we get to set up and how much fun everyone has every year that they go. Mindful meditation & yoga: Enhanced child flexibility, balance and coordination, breathing awareness and relaxaton skills centereed on meditation, creative body postures and dynamic body sequences,building self-esteem backed by music and themed-based stories. Keeping kids thinking creatively with fun arts and crafts. 3 day camp - Aug. 16, 17 & 18 - 8 am to 12 pm $50 Reservation required.
Youth Winter Camp - New Haven, MI
Haven Place will be doing a FREE Youth Winter Camp. Grades 6th thru 12th. This camp will be focusing on Community Service, Discipleship, We will be having youth grades 6 to 12 stay overnight for three nights. We will be doing community service hours on Friday and Saturday. We will be taking the youth to serve senior citizens in the surrounding area. The youth will be making gifts to bring to the elderly. The youth will also be disciples through a program through D-Now Studies called "The Pause" this discipleship course is four sessions and it will equip youth to learn how to seek God in a never ending multitasking environment. They will each receive a student book and t-shirt. We will be having a New Years Eve party for them. Live band and student mentors will be with them during the camp. Weather permitting we will be shoveling snow and going to sledding hills to pass out free hot cocoa and the gospel message. Possibly do "laundry Love" where we go into a local laundry mat and pay for everyones laundry to be done and more!! Summer Strength and Speed Training Girls - 9th-12th grades - Wichita Collegiate School
Instructor: Black All classes will be taught in the state of the art Lattner Center located on the west side of the Upper School. Some sessions will take place on the turf or track at Spartan Stadium located just to the east of the Beren Middle School. The summer staff of Troy Black, Mike Gehrer, Destiny Clark, Cam Clark, and other staff as needed have many years of proven experience and knowledge. The curriculum and techniques like the training center are state of the art and are presented in a positive uplifting environment. Each session has a curriculum molded to the skill sets and abilities of the students. Strength and Speed - For the 6th year, we will be offering a class that is designed for the female athlete. Female athletes need to work on their strength and speed just like the males. The focus of the program will be on developing overall body strength, learning proper lifting technique, improved jumping ability, agility, speed improvement, and core strength. A variety of exercises and drills will be used over the 8-week program. The participants age, experience, and limitations will be used when designing the participants workouts. ** PLEASE NOTE: You must audition and be accepted into this class BEFORE you register. This college-level acting workshop lead by Katie Cappiello and Meg McInerney along with Tisch School of The Arts faculty guests will focus on intense scene study and character development. Students will be challenged by advanced sense memory, improvisation, and text analysis exercises as they prepare scenes to be presented at the end of the workshop. Students will be assigned and emailed a scene prior to the workshop. This 5-day master class will require students to not only work in class on their pieces but also independently with scene partners outside of class – as they would in any theater arts college program.
