I sent my teenager to the Taft Summer School in Watertown, CT this past summer and I am so glad I did! She was able to get intensive learning in a school environment, but it wasn't school. It was more fun and had a lot of extras, so she was able to get the best of both worlds. The teachers are excited to teach and that’s why the campers learn so much. Annual Camping & Kid Fish Event in the Park - W.m. Brook Park
The annual camping and kid fish event will be held on June 5-6, 2015 at W. M. Brook Park. Registration will be held on Friday, June 5th at 6pm followed by a hot dog supper, movie in the park (The Goonies) , and campfire fun. Participants can then go camping or fishing. Bring your blanket/sleeping bag and have a fun night camping out at the Little Valley Legion Pavilion & field …. And help the Orphans in Cambodia while you do it. Information & pledge sheets are available at the L.V. United Methodist Church, L.V. Wesleyan Church, Cattaraugus Trading Post or message the T.E.A.M. fb page and one will be mailed to you. Who: Youth in the community 3rd grade- 12th grade What: Camp Out for the Orphans in Cambodia Where: Little Valley Legion Pavilion/Field When: Friday, August 14th begins at 6:30 thru Saturday, August 15th 10:30 a.m. How: Pick up a pledge sheet & get family & neighbors to support you for the event. Bring just your sleeping bag or blanket and a willing heart to give up all your comforts of home for one night to help another child. 420 Intermediate Session 1 - 15 Tucks Point Rd., Manchester
The 420 Intermediate class is designed for sailors who have mastered the basics and want to enhance their sailing skills in a double-handed boat. Successful completion of two sessions of the 420 Beginner class, Opti Advanced, Opti Race Team, or a sailor who can demonstrate similar skills is required. There will be both chalkboard (pre and post sailing) and on-the-water instruction with a focus on fun while learning. Students will learn boat handling, sail trim and introductory spinnaker skills. This class has a hands on learn-to-sail focus. When complete, sailors will be able set, fly, and douse a spinnaker, demonstrate skipper/crew communication and teamwork, sail a 420 upwind, downwind, and do so with independence and confidence. This class is best for 12 – 18 year olds who are seeking to become proficient at two-person performance dinghy sailing. This is a great step towards either racing, or a recreational oriented mastery of sailing. 978-526-8345

The curriculum includes a daily writing activity that will focus on grade appropriate writing skills and a creative art activity related to each book we read. We will also spend time outside playing games that will build positive friendship skills. Each day will include a snack, lunch and pool time. DeAnna Huffines graduated from Saint Marys in 1983 from high school and 1985 from College. She then attended Meredith College where she majored in education.
