In this mixed-genre class, students have the chance to combine poetry, fiction and comics to tell epic stories about themselves and their world. They will explore new literary techniques and poetic forms while developing skills in written, oral, and visual storytelling. Students will experience all stages of the writing process—writing, revising, and sharing—ending with a celebration for family and friends. Individuals requiring medical care other than the administration of medications will not be accepted. There will not be a nurse in attendance- medications will be managed by trained camp staff. Behavioral Challenges: Individuals with severe behavioral issues including acting out, inability to remain with the group, self-injurious/assaultive behaviors or aggressive tendencies will not be accepted. Campers will be assisted in ski activities and/or camping activities but must be interested and willing to participate in order to attend either of these programs. Staffing Ratios: Participants must be able to function safely in a group environment. Staff to camper ratios will be 1 to 5 during most times of the day.
