Incoming 7th and 8th Graders will learn the basic usage and safety of some hand tools, power tools and machinery (routers, drill press, scroll saw, spindle sander, disc sander, palm sander, cordless drill, lathe). All activities will be demonstrated and supervised by Mr. Caris, the current Woodworking teacher at NBJH. Students will choose a project from a list based on their experience. The list will be sent home in the FIRST week of the course. Examples include a cutting board, wood bowl, routed sign, garden tray, gumball machine, and bag toss game. Is your teen always snapping away? Stealing your camera? Obsessed with capturing their surroundings? Foster their creative skills at our TEEN PHOTO CAMP this summer in our Crabapple studio! Students will need a digital camera and a *genuine* desire to learn more about photography. We will offer separate sessions for middle & high schoolers in June and July. We’ll have instruction, shooting practice and fun learning activities each day in an artistic, small group environment. Each student will need to bring their digital camera, a snack, water bottle & lunch each day. All other materials will be provided, including class notes & supplies. The camp will cover the following topics : - Photographer’s Tool Kit - Essentials of Exposure (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO) - Camera Settings - Composition - Photography & Social Media - Lighting, Landscapes & People - Careers in Photography At the end of camp, we will have an open house showcasing our student's best work in the studio. Camp fee is $225 and is required to hold your student's place.

KidSport Mornings Ages 4 -13[] Kids enjoy a variety of team sports, individual sports, team building games, fitness and other physical education activities and swimming lessons Director: Kerry Winkelseth, UM School of Kinesiology Campers bring snacks and water. Mornings, Monday-Friday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Curbside Drop-off. Staff will collect your camper from your car at 8 AM and bring your camper to your car at 12 Noon. KidSport offers children the opportunity to learn and refine non-competitive sport-specific, team building and social skills. The activities are age appropriate and developed by experts in childrens physical education. KidSport is staffed by certified teachers as well as physical education and education majors focused on providing a first-rate experience for your kids! High School Session: 9:00 am to 11:30 am daily. High School session will be run as collegiate practice with intense, position specific instruction. Participants must be in grades 9 to 12 as of the 2015-2016 school year. On behalf of Coach Bill Dwan, Associate Head Coach of Hopkins and Coach Matt Dwan, Asistant Coach, Loyola Mens Lacrosse - we are excited to partner with the Lambert High School Lacrosse Program to host our 2016 Elite Lax Camp! Due to NCAA Regulations, we are prohibited from advertising current players that will be working at the camp. The Elite Lax Camp features the TOP athletes at each position and ensure a player to coach ratio of 14 to 1 to maximize instruction. Learn from current collegiate players at the TOP of their game!! About Elite Lax Camp: Elite Lacrosse Camp to offer well-rounded lacrosse instruction tailored for all playing levels entwined with important lifes lessons and the significance of education and dedication. Children through young adults with HFA/Aspergers Syndrome have the opportunity to explore the art of improv, drama, and music with their peers. Drama Club is directed by a drama professional and music therapist who have extensive experience working with children and adults on the spectrum.This group provides participants with the opportunity to improve their communication skills within a small group or in front of a larger audience. Research has shown that children who participate in Drama/Acting activities improve their ability to react and respond to imaginary situations and feelings and eventually generalize these skills into their daily living.
