LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Climbing Camp - Intermediate - Breckenridge Recreation Center
So youre a veteran of Beginner Climbing Camp and you want to learn more about the technical side of climbing? This camp is just for you! Learn new skills including rappelling, advanced climbing techniques, and much more! As always, on Fridays we will be climbing outdoors, returning to the Recreation Center by 1:00pm. No camp on Wednesdays. Four-day camps are offered in three sessions running June 13-August 12. To register for this program, participants must have attended a Beginners Climbing Camp within the past 3 years or must receive approval from a Climbing Wall Instructor or the Outdoor Programs Coordinator. For questions, please call the Outdoor Programs Coordinator at 970-547-4324. Upon successful completion, climbers may move to the Advanced Climbing Camp. Suggested personal equipment for outdoor climbing day: Comfortable shoes for approach, water bottle, snack, wind/rain jacket, extra layers, sunscreen/lip balm, hat and camera. Make it a full-day, full-week camp! Campers attending morning climbing, sports, outdoor and preschool camps may attend BMC [] in the afternoon for half-price and/or attend the Wednesday field trips. General Information/Standard of Conduct -Arrival: Camp check in will begin at 12:00 PM on Monday afternoon. Our multi-sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting while teaching them vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline. Saturday Discovery with Nelli Shevelkina (Ages 6-11) - Young People
Skills in the visual arts are built in the same way as learning to play a musical instrument or sport: by practicing and training, and by challenging you with new techniques and ideas. In Drawing and Discovery, young artists ages 6-11 will explore fundamental concepts of line, texture, shading, and color through the fun, creative, and age-appropriate projects. Students will try their hand at figure drawing, portraits, volume and perspective, and experiment with professional art materials. Students will work independently or as a group according to their age, level of experience, personal interest and individual artistic style. Note: This class will be offered continuously during the year, allowing students to progressively develop skills in visual literacy, perception and creativity progressively. This is a fundamentally-based camp for boys and girls ages 6-13; focusing on skill development through daily drill periods, contests, and competitive games. Instruction is provided by High School coaches and current and former college basketball players. Camp Director, Brett McFall, is an Olathe South High School grad and 1997 Mr. Kansas Basketball. Brett was a 4-year player at the University of Wyoming (1997-2001) and played professionally in Europe and the USA (2002-2004).
