LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Camp Houston Levee (CITs) - Houston Levee Park
Is your child too old for camp but still likes to have a little fun? Camp Houston Levee is seeking Counselors-In-Training for this years summer camp. Requirements include: * Must be at least 14 years old and a rising freshman in high school * Participate in the interview process * Be able to assist for 7 of the 8 weeks of summer camp AND * Complete the CIT Orientation Session In return, we will provide: * A summer of fun activities * Opportunities to take on leadership roles, and * An engaging, learning experience The fee of $115 covers a percentage of the cost for staff shirts, field trips and Friday lunches. We will be accepting up to 16 applications but only 8-10 participants will be chosen to participate as a CIT. This decision will be determined on a first come-first-serve basis during the interview process. Applications will be accepted starting April 1st and close once all positions have been filled. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate with them to their interview. Exclusive for Non-Profit Youth Groups! Registration limited to first 30 youth Become a GC wildlife detective while on school vacation! Come to Gardner Camp for hands-on learning about wildlife and animals of all kinds. Nationally renowned World Bird Sanctuary will be at GC to present a live animal program where you will experience an up-close view of animals from all kingdoms. After learning about the different types of animals and the signs that animals leave behind, participants will test their investigation skills solving a mystery and go on a tracking adventure, weather permitting. Participants will also walk away with their very own handmade wildlife tracks t-shirt. Within this program, there is also a giveback opportunity to help World Bird Sanctuary. Join the Krewe of Chewbacchus this December break for Winter Parade Camp! Our winter campers learn about the history of Mardi Gras traditions in New Orleans and around the world. They create costumes and throws, and build their own shoebox float. At the end of the week, we throw an awesome parade and party with our Chewbacchus kids and families. Take your creativity to the next level and learn to compose music that enhances your video gaming experience. Even if youve never tried composing before you can learn to manipulate sounds to make the action on your screen come alive. Students will use Propellerheads Reason/Record software in our portable music technology lab to compose music for existing video games as well as create music for their own game concepts and scenes. Any student currently enrolled in band, orchestra or choir is welcome to join this camp, even if you havent had any composing experience. Family and friends are invited to attend a multi-media performance on the last day of camp. Register for either the morning or the afternoon session the week of June 27-July 1.
