Fundamentals Sports Camp is a six week program which may include basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, Summer Olympics, and flag football. Each week we focus on learning the rules and history of a sport, playing it at least once each day. Old camp favorites such as dodge ball, capture the flag, four square, and pirate ball are incorporated into the program as well. However, Fundamentals Sports Camp is not only about the games we play but it is our "off the field" curriculum that sets us apart form other sports day camps. Due to an administrative oversight on the part of Ministerio Bethel Internacional, we have been forced to modify our plans regarding this summer's youth camp. Although we had reserved the dates last September, somehow MBI has given away our reservation to another group. All that being said, we have decided that as opposed to trying to reschedule our own camp at this point, instead New Jersey's Insurgent Youth Camp will join force's with New York's Youth camp which is held at the same facility. However, as opposed to the camp being held July 5-9, it will now take place on August 8-13. The good news is that this change will result in a reduced price for all who attend. The set price for the camp is $225 and as opposed to our previous rate, the price will include an additional day at the campsite. As far as registration goes, all applications should still be sent to New Jersey Youth and Discipleship at 147 Lower Main Street, Matawan, NJ, 07747. Treasure Hunting with Stamps! Letterboxing! - The Evergreen School
A week of stamp making, hiking and treasure hunting. Students will create their own stamps, follow directions, and find hidden letterboxes. They will stamp in and collect stamps from each of our daily hikes. We will even make our own letterboxes, write up the clues and hide them for others to find. Students will be hiking approximately 1-3 miles daily with plenty of time for breaks, lunch, play, and treasure hunting. Children must bring a lunch, a full water bottle, and should wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. The class will be outdoors all day walking fairly easy trails. All-American Girl instruction will focus on vault, bars, balance beam, floor exercise and mini-trampoline. We will encourage the "grace" behind the sport and will incorporate turns, leaps, jumps and elements of the sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics along with tumbling and mini-trampoline. In our "Iron Men" tumbling program, the boys will be grouped by age and introduced to the basics of tumbling acrobatics such as rolls, cartwheels, handstands, handsprings, jumps and safety falls, in addition to mini trampoline fundamentals. For the older boys we offer acro-slam activities such as dunking balls by jumping off the mini-tramp. To round out this program, we will encourage the girls and boys to challenge their strength, flexibility, & coordination through fun, age appropriate gymnastics, challenges, and activities.
