Just as winter thaws and gives way to spring, a winter retreat for youth groups is offered to challenge your youth to remain strong in their faith and continue to turn to Jesus Christ for direction and comfort in the middle of the school year. An awesome speaker and terrific worship band will help make this weekend spectacular. Participating youth groups must provide chaperones for this retreat. Summer 5 Days of Knight Camp for Kids - Battle of Agincourt - Portland
Kids day camp for the week of Aug 22nd through Aug. 26th Ages 7 through 12 - or first grade and up. Camp runs Monday through Thursday- 9:30am to 3:30pm Children should pack a lunch or bring money to buy food at the Subway in our parking lot. Before and after care are available for an additional fee - see below. Camp must be pre-registered. There are no refunds however arrangements can be made to transfer registration to a different child. Our program is focused on teaching historical arts connected to the martial culture of Europe in the time of the crusades and beyond to the 16th century. We teach history and real world skills related to the time and culture of Knighthood. This this course we will focus on the Battle of Agincourt.... a decisive time in history. The invasion took a muster of troops... a ship voyage... and then an overland campaign. This past year saw the Anniversary celebration of the Battle at European battle sites and museums. Intro to Lego Robotics - Glenmont Elementary
Introducing the brand new Lego WeDo 2.0. Students will explore simple robotics using LEGO WeDo. Each week they will build models, attach sensors and motors that are plugged into a computer or tablet, and configure behaviors using simple programming. As students advance through the program extension projects can be added for those who are ready for more challenging projects. This robotics class covers topics within science, technology, mathematics and engineering. Science was never this much fun! Grades 4 & 5 meet on Wednesdays. Grades 1-3 meet on Thursdays. Students in grade 3 participating in both programs will meet on Wednesdays for Lego Robotics. Students create original works of art, working with sound, video, and/or media installation. Instruction covers techniques for shooting video, studio lighting, recording sound, 2-d animation, green screen compositing, and the basics of video and sound editing. Students utilize the computer labs, hardware and sound studio facilities of the Mason Gross School of the Arts media area.
