Days will consist of drills to refine basic skills and scrimmage play. Group will cool off daily at Reynolds Pool during the last hour of the camp. Movement Explorers Dance Camp - Carnegie Building
Got a kid who loves to move? This is the camp for you! Creative Movement is an exploratory camp that encourages students to be curious about all the wonderful ways their body can move. Each day of camp has a theme that dancers will explore through story, movement, music, props, crafts & games, allowing them to express themselves while learning movement vocabulary, strengthening coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and focus. Students will also learn choreography that will be performed at the end of the camp week for friends and family! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instructor: Katrena Cohea has been dancing for over twenty years and teaching for over ten. She received her early training with Jeanie Pors at Benicia Ballet School, studying the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. She is a member of the RAD, and has completed their Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS). She holds a B.A. in Dance from CSU East Bay, where she received training in jazz and hip hop from noted Bay Area director and choreographer Laura E. Ellis. Your camper is guaranteed to have a great summer in Camp Buckeye! Buckeye campers will create beautiful works of art, learn new games and get an introduction into classic sports like soccer. Each Wednesday, Buckeyes will get in touch with their creative side with music and enrichment activities. These campers can frequently be seen splashing in our tot pool or if they pass the swim test, hurtling down the water slides in the main pool. We will create our own architectural firm for the chance to build things in 3D: a hockey rink, football stadium, golf course, art gallery, a museum, a roller coaster theme park, an aquarium, or even the great Roman Coliseum! As future architects, learn about perspective drawing and go outdoors to draw the architecture of Cary Academy. For the grand finale, our creative engineering skills will be challenged with the classic egg drop project where teams design a device to protect an egg from a 15 foot drop as campers from other summer programs watch the competition and cheer us on! 919-677-7839
