Find out what it takes to be an archaeologist! Heres your chance to work alongside the Parks archaeologist and get hands on experience with mapping, soil identification, and artifact processing. Campers will turn their digital snapshots into real photographs, learning how to combine traditional basics of photography, (lighting, composition and style) and blend them into the digital age. Campers will learn how to tear apart a pixel in a digital darkroom and take a photo, even members of their family will like. This camp has plenty of outdoor activity. Campers should bring a digital camera, extra batteries, a USB cord to attach their camera to a computer and a CD or external jump drive to load and save their finished images. Well stretch our imaginations while viewing interesting public artworks, art galleries and creating our own art.Traveling Art Camp Austin Well head out into the world for the early part of the day and be back to The Art Garage to create in the studio during the afternoons. Campers can expect to create their own hand-forged metal rings, glass slumped dish, mosaic artwork, large scale public mural and more. Adventure Camp is for children ages 8 – 12 (by first day of camp session). Why is Adventure Camp different? Campers are provided the opportunity to explore further into the park with longer hikes, shelter building, and learning how to build a campfire – and then Smores! Part of Adventure Camp is letting the group direct what activities they would like to do by coming up with new and exciting adventures. The staff has the freedom to be creative when making these fun adventures come to life. Campers will have an opportunity to kayak twice during the week, including a visit to the Hollywood Oyster Company. They will create and run their own unique obstacle course, go fishing and crabbing from the pier, and build their own boats out of recycled materials and test to see if they are sea-worthy. Mid-week, campers will hike to the Manor House area where they can build forts with bamboo, explore the gardens, play water games and capture the flag, visit the Barn and participate in our Nature Time program.
